“Give Blood, Give Life – A Gift of Freedom on Independence Day!”
On the auspicious occasion of India’s Independence Day, the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit of Savedi, Ahilyanagar, organized a Blood Donation Camp, reaffirming its commitment to serving humanity. This noble initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Ahilyanagar Blood Bank and aimed to provide life-saving support to those in need.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from past pupils, parents, and parishioners, who generously came forward to donate blood. Their contribution not only symbolized a gesture of care and compassion but also reflected the true meaning of freedom—sharing and caring for others.
Adding grace and encouragement to the occasion were Fr Ajit Munis, Fr Richard Burkao, and Dn Sheldon Dias, who, along with the dedicated teachers of Don Bosco Vidyalaya, actively participated and even donated blood themselves. Their presence and example inspired many to join this life-saving mission, reinforcing the values of service and solidarity promoted by Don Bosco institutions.
The success of the camp was largely due to the efforts and meticulous planning of Dr Pravin Gaikwad and Mr Tushar Kedari, the President of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit, Savedi. Under their guidance and with the constant support of the committee members, every aspect of the camp—from medical arrangements to donor care—was managed efficiently. The organizers ensured proper safety measures and a smooth registration process, creating a comfortable environment for all donors.
What made the event truly special was the overwhelming response from the Don Bosco family. Numerous past pupils came forward to contribute to this cause, demonstrating that the bonds formed at Don Bosco extend far beyond the school years and translate into meaningful acts of kindness.
As the camp concluded, there was a deep sense of fulfillment among all participants. Every unit of blood collected represented hope for someone in need and reminded us that the essence of independence lies in serving others and uplifting society.
Through this initiative, the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit of Savedi once again showcased its enduring commitment to community service and social responsibility. This blood donation camp was not just an event but a celebration of humanity, solidarity, and the values instilled by Don Bosco.
Indeed, on this Independence Day, the Don Bosco family proved that freedom finds its highest expression in acts of love, care, and sacrifice for the greater good.
