The Association of Past Pupils, Mumbai Provincial Federation, presented the Maharashtra Region GEX Animation cum 7-A-Side Football Tournament on Saturday, 16th August 2025 at the Don Bosco Edu Complex, Yerwada. The event brought together past pupils from different parts united not only by their love for football but also by their deep bond with the Salesian family.
The day began with a warm welcome and a hearty breakfast for the players. Following this, everyone gathered in the school hall for the Inaugural Ceremony. The participating teams assembled in full spirit, and the presence of the Salesian priests, brothers, and dignitaries added grace to the occasion.
The inauguration commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp symbolizing the light of knowledge and unity paying homage to the Founder and Father St John Bosco on his 210th Birthday.
A felicitation ceremony was held next, where the Past Pupils and Teachers were warmly welcomed and honoured. On this occasion Fr Crispino D’Souza, the Rector extended a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries and the Past Pupils present appreciating their support and participation. Fr Donald Fernandez, the Provincial Delegate, Mr Ketan Gala, the member of Yerwada Unit and Fr Dinesh Vasava, the Director of Diocesan Catechetical Centre also addressed the gathering, highlighting the invaluable role of Past Pupils in carrying forward Don Bosco’s mission. They reminded everyone of the importance of living the values instilled by their alma mater. Their words were truly motivating and inspiring, especially for the young participants.
The formalities concluded with the introduction of the team captains. The tournament rules were announced, and the draws for the matches were declared. The knockout format promised excitement and competitive spirit among the teams.
The tournament began with the Pune teams battling it out in the first round. Each match was filled with energy, skill, and sportsmanship. After the morning session, everyone gathered for lunch and enjoyed a time of friendship and sharing. The afternoon session saw the Mumbai teams taking to the field displaying their passion and determination.
The day’s matches led to the much-anticipated finals where Romans A and Romans B faced each other in a nail-biting contest. The game kept the audience on edge with both teams showcasing remarkable teamwork and talent. In the end Romans A emerged victorious with a 2–1 scoreline, lifting the championship trophy, cash prize and medals earning loud applause from the spectators.
Following the finals, snacks were served giving everyone a moment to relax and celebrate the day. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony where the winners were awarded. The atmosphere was filled with joy, pride and the Salesian family spirit.
The Maharashtra Region GEX Animation cum 7-A-Side Football Tournament was more than just a sporting event. It was an opportunity for Past Pupils to reconnect, relive cherished memories, and strengthen their bond with Don Bosco’s mission. The day reflected the Salesian spirit of teamwork, friendship, and joy reminding everyone that once a Boscoite, always a Boscoite.

“It was not just about winning or losing, but about meeting old friends and cherishing our Bosco spirit on the field.” a Past Pupil from Pune said
“Playing under Don Bosco’s name once again filled me with pride and joy. The bond we share as Boscoites is truly special.” a Past Pupil from Mumbai said.
