Don Bosco Kawant School in Gujarat joyfully celebrated Grandparents Day in the school hall with great enthusiasm and heartfelt appreciation under the theme “You Are, Therefore We Are”. The event was a beautiful tribute to the pillars of our families – our beloved grandparents.
The celebration commenced with a soulful prayer service followed by a graceful prayer dance, invoking blessings and setting a spiritual tone for the day.
Fr Mayank Parmar warmly welcomed the gathering and addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of grandparents in shaping families and values. He also sensitively touched upon the concerning issue of old age homes, urging the younger generation to recognize and uphold the dignity and care of elders.
The program featured a vibrant line-up of cultural performances including lively dances by students that brought joy and smiles to all present. A special felicitation ceremony was held to honor the grandparents for their love, sacrifices, and wisdom. Their presence brought warmth to the atmosphere, and many grandparents took the opportunity to share their heartfelt experiences and thoughts, adding emotional depth and meaning to the event.
Jamshing Bhai Rathwa proudly shared that all five of his children have studied in this school, and now his granddaughter is continuing the legacy by studying here as well. He expressed his happiness in seeing how many former students of the school have grown to become police officers, doctors, engineers, and other successful professionals. He assured everyone that if the school ever needs any help, he and others in the community are always ready to support.
Parshing Bhai Rathwa also spoke during the event. He mentioned that his granddaughter is currently studying in the school, and he has closely observed the efforts being made by the institution toward the upliftment of the village. He praised the school’s role in bringing about positive change and development in the village.
Jhandu Bhai Rathwa, a retired police officer, appreciated the school’s discipline and well-organized management. He expressed his satisfaction with the environment being provided to the students, saying it lays a strong foundation for their future success.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr Ajay Shelke, who expressed gratitude to the grandparents, parents, staff, and students for making the celebration a memorable one. He appreciated the efforts of everyone involved and reinforced the message of love, respect, and gratitude for the elder generation.
