The Sahayak Mata Parish Youth, Kawant in Gujarat experienced an enriching overnight camp at Hafeshwar, organized under the leadership of Fr Agnel Dias SDB, SYM Youth Delegate, from August 15 to 16, 2025. The camp was designed to help the young people connect with nature, strengthen their bond as a group, and plan their yearly programme in a spirit of joy and togetherness. A total of 18 parish youth enthusiastically participated in the event.
The camp began on the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady and the celebration of the 79th Independence Day. After attending the Holy Eucharist, the flag hoisting, and the cultural programme at school, the youth gathered their supplies, packed the vehicles, and set off for Hafeshwar after lunch. The adventurous journey through dense forest added to the excitement, and upon arrival, the participants pitched their tents and prepared firewood for cooking.
The evening programme included a short trek in the jungle, followed by a lively housie game. Later, the group worked together in preparing dinner, each youth contributing to the cooking process — an activity that fostered teamwork and camaraderie. Before supper, the group prayed the Rosary and evening prayer, entrusting the camp to God. In a simple but touching moment, Fr Mayank Parmar SDB, Parish Priest, officially welcomed Fr Dias, the Youth Delegate, with a bouquet. The group then enjoyed the delicious meal they had prepared themselves. The night concluded with a talent show and party games, where the youth showcased their skills and enjoyed themselves until midnight.
The next morning, the campers were awakened by the sound of rain at 4:00 am. After freshening up, they participated in the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr Dias. This was followed by morning exercises and the preparation of breakfast. The highlight of the morning was a serious planning session, during which the youth discussed their yearly programme and shared ideas on how to make the parish community more vibrant and participatory.
After the discussion, the campers rolled back their tents, packed their belongings, and returned to Don Bosco Campus, Kawant. Before dispersing, Fr Agnel Dias proposed the vote of thanks, expressing his gratitude to: Fr Mayank Parmar SDB, Rector and Parish Priest, for his constant support, Fr Ajay Shelke SDB, Vice Rector, who stayed with the youth throughout the night, Br Melvyn Carvalho SDB, for arranging the transport and Cl Ankit Ganava SDB, for his fraternal presence.
The camp ended with smiling faces and joyful hearts, as the youth returned with renewed energy, stronger friendships, and a greater commitment to their mission in the parish. The Hafeshwar overnight camp proved to be not just an adventure in nature, but a memorable experience of faith, fellowship, and formation.
