Life itself is a precious gift, and birthdays are a reminder to celebrate that gift. The celebration becomes even more meaningful when it embraces the lives of the abandoned, the orphaned, the roofless, and the rootless. In keeping with its cherished tradition, Don Bosco Snehalaya at Vishwamitri, Vadodara, in Gujarat, joyfully celebrated the birthday of St. John Bosco—founder, friend, and father of the young—along with the lives of the boys residing at Snehalaya.
The day was filled with excitement and cheer. The celebrations began with lively music, followed by a festive breakfast that set the tone for the day. Soon after, the boys were treated to an outing at the theatre to watch the newly released movie War 2. While they were away, the Salesians and staff lovingly decorated the house, preparing for the grand evening program.
In the evening, the program commenced with words of inspiration. Rector and Director, Fr Baptist Monteiro, spoke to the boys about what it truly means to be a ‘Child of God.’ He encouraged them to grow in responsibility and strive to become good, honest, and upright citizens. Fr Ajay D’monte then shared the inspiring life story of Don Bosco, helping the boys understand who Don Bosco was and the vision he lived for.
The evening was further enriched by vibrant cultural performances presented by past pupils and dance groups, which brought joy and energy to the gathering. A highlight of the celebration was the customary cake-cutting, symbolizing the unity and joy of the Snehalaya family. This was followed by a sumptuous dinner and lively dancing, which the boys enjoyed wholeheartedly.
The event was graced by numerous benefactors and well-wishers who joined in the celebration, sharing their joy and encouragement with the children. Together with the staff and management, the boys offered heartfelt prayers of gratitude for the generosity of benefactors who continually support the mission of Snehalaya.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of prizes, leaving the boys with happy hearts and cherished memories of a day filled with love, joy, and hope.
