On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, on August 8, 2025, the students of Don Bosco English Medium School, Savedi, along with their principal and teachers, visited the local police station at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the festival in a unique and heartfelt way. This thoughtful initiative aimed to convey the school community’s appreciation for the tireless service and sacrifices of the police personnel in ensuring the safety and security of the people.
The celebration began with warm greetings as the students, carrying handmade rakhis, entered the station. In a touching gesture, they tied the rakhis to Police Inspector Mr Anand Kokate, API Mr Mangesh Gontla, and other dedicated staff members. The tying of the rakhi, a symbol of protection and respect, became a powerful expression of gratitude towards those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
The officers were visibly moved by the students’ sincerity and affection. They expressed that such gestures not only boost their morale but also strengthen the bond of trust between the police force and the community. Many students shared their thoughts with the officers, expressing how they look up to them as real-life heroes who work tirelessly, often in challenging situations, to maintain law and order.
A short but meaningful ceremony followed. Fr Richard Burkhao, Principal of Don Bosco English Medium School, addressed the gathering and acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the police. "We wanted to show our appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices of our police personnel," Fr Burkhao said. "Raksha Bandhan is a festival that celebrates the bond of protection, and who better to honor than those who safeguard our communities every day?"
The officers, in turn, thanked the school for the initiative and encouraged the students to always value discipline, honesty, and service to others. They shared insights into their daily responsibilities, giving the young visitors a better understanding of the challenges and dedication required in police work.
The program concluded with light refreshments and warm conversations between the students, teachers, and police personnel. Smiles, laughter, and words of encouragement filled the room, making the day memorable for everyone present.
This celebration of Raksha Bandhan served as a reminder that gratitude and recognition go a long way in building stronger community relationships. Both the school and the police station expressed hope that such engagements would continue in the future, fostering mutual respect, cooperation, and a spirit of unity between citizens and those who protect them.
