The Past Pupil Unit of Don Bosco Kawant hosted its annual gathering and first formal meeting on August 10, 2025 at the Don Bosco campus, drawing over 100 alumni from various batches for a heartwarming celebration of friendship, gratitude, and shared history. The event was organised by the Core Committee led by Mr Ranchod Rathwa, with the support of Past Pupil Delegate, Fr Ajay Shelke SDB, and teachers Mrs Madhuben and Sir Michael.
The gathering aimed to reconnect former students across generations, relive cherished memories, and renew their bond with the institution that shaped their lives.
The programme began with a garlanding of the statue of Don Bosco, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Fathers and teachers were felicitated with garlands and shawls as tokens of appreciation for their dedication. Past pupils serving in government and other notable sectors were also honoured for their achievements.
The Sahayak Mata Parish Youth, guided by Fr Agnel Dias SDB, added vibrancy to the day with action songs, dances, and entertainment segments.
In emotional reflections, Mrs Madhuben shared her 30 years of teaching Mathematics and Science in the tribal area, fulfilling her lifelong dream of serving the community. She expressed pride in seeing her former students succeed, even hearing from homemakers who now teach their children using what they learned from her. Sir Michael, also marking 30 years of service, recalled his warm rapport with students and the enduring affection they show him, narrating the generosity of past pupil Mr Shailesh Rathwa, who ensured food and water for students travelling to the North East for the Boscoree.
Past pupils recounted their personal transformations. Mr Narottam Rathwa humorously admitted to being a mischievous student but credited Don Bosco’s formation for helping him build a good family life and secure a stable job in Vadodara. Mr Jagdish Rathwa highlighted how the values and skills learned at Don Bosco earned them workplace recognition. Many echoed deep gratitude for the school’s formative role in their lives.
In his address, Fr Mayank Parmar SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Kawant, reminded the alumni of Don Bosco’s vision: “You are the extended hands of Don Bosco. The Preventive System you learned here must shine in your lives, making you a light for others.” Fr Ajay Shelke SDB, Past Pupil Delegate, expressed heartfelt thanks for the strong participation and support, encouraging everyone to remain connected to their alma mater.
The day concluded with renewed commitments to uphold Don Bosco’s values, leaving participants inspired and grateful — a true testament to the lifelong bonds formed at Don Bosco Kawant.
Following the gathering, a short planning meeting was held to prepare for the upcoming farewell programme for Sir Michael, who will retire this year. The celebration concluded with a sumptuous meal, and the past pupils departed with hearts full of nostalgia, pride, and a renewed sense of belonging to the Don Bosco family.
