The Salesian Cooperators of Pune DBYS, Koregaon Welcomed 4 New Members on Saturday, Aug 15, 2025.
The unit was thrilled to celebrate the official "promise" of the new members: A spirit of joy and camaraderie filled the air as the Salesian Cooperators of Pune, Koregaon Park, gathered to witness a significant moment in their community's journey when
Barbara Pillay, Merelene Mathias, Rene Correa, and Kiran Correa took their promise to be lifelong members of Salesian Cooperators.
This solemn ceremony marked their official commitment to live the Salesian charism in their daily lives, becoming an integral part of the global Salesian Family.
“The promise” is more than just a formal step; it is a profound declaration of faith and a commitment to a life of service inspired by St. John Bosco. The Salesian Cooperators, founded by Don Bosco himself, are lay people who, while living in the world, dedicate themselves to his mission of educating and evangelizing the poor and abandoned young.
By making their promise, Barbara, Merelene, Rene, and Kiran are embracing a way of life centred on reason, religion, and loving-kindness. Their commitment will be a beacon of hope, showing laypeople, how they can be active participants in the Church's mission and a powerful force for good in their communities.
The celebration was presided over by Fr Diego Nunes, the esteemed Provincial Delegate, who led a beautiful Eucharistic celebration. His presence underscored the importance of the occasion, highlighting the deep connection between the Salesian Cooperators and the larger Salesian Province. Concelebrating the mass was Fr Dinesh Vasava the local delegate, whose guidance and support have been instrumental in nurturing the Koregaon Park unit. Together, their leadership created a deeply meaningful and spiritual atmosphere for all in attendance.
Adding to the festive and vibrant atmosphere was the participation of the Yerwada unit of Salesian Cooperators. Their presence turned the celebration into a joint venture, demonstrating the strong bond and shared mission between the different units in Pune. The Yerwada unit's contribution was particularly memorable, as they elevated the entire celebration with their melodic and soulful singing. Their harmonious voices filled the church, creating an atmosphere of praise and thanksgiving that touched the hearts of everyone present. This collaborative spirit perfectly reflects the unity and mutual support that define the Salesian Family.
The ceremony concluded in true Salesian style—with a fellowship meal. It was a wonderful moment, not just for the individuals making their promises, but also for the families participating as an entire community that had supported and guided them on their journey.
The day was a beautiful blend of spiritual commitment, community fellowship, and joyous celebration—a true testament to the enduring legacy of St. John Bosco in Pune. The Salesian Family continues to grow, bringing light and hope to the world around it.
