A team from Don Bosco Vyavasaik Prashikshan Kendra, Chinchwad, led by the Principal, along with 17 trainees from the MMV trade, visited Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems as part of an industrial exposure and partnership interaction program.
The trainees reached the Knorr-Bremse premises at 10 a.m., and the formal program commenced at 10:45 a.m. The event began with the felicitation of the dignitaries from Knorr-Bremse — Mr Otter Ludwick, Mr Martyn Perkins, Mr Arun Bisht, Ms Sylvia Bytow, and Mr Gorgile.
Knorr-Bremse AG is a global leader in braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles, headquartered in Munich, Germany. The company has over 120 years of experience and operates at more than 100 locations in over 30 countries, employing more than 32,000 people worldwide. In 2024, Knorr-Bremse generated revenues of approximately €7.9 billion, demonstrating its significant industrial presence.
All the guests delivered inspiring speeches, appreciating the ongoing partnership between Knorr-Bremse and Don Bosco in fostering skill development and empowering youth through technical education. They highlighted the value of collaboration in shaping future-ready technicians.
The Principal expressed his gratitude towards Knorr-Bremse for their continued support in key initiatives such as the establishment of the Advanced Computer Lab, provision of Hostel Facilities for trainees, and the innovative Lab on Wheels concept. He emphasized how these efforts have significantly contributed to enhancing the learning environment and opportunities for students.
As Moses Gudekar from Don Bosco Chinchwad observed, these visits help students gain direct insights into industrial processes and technologies, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practices. Students benefit from hands-on experiences with production systems, machinery, and workplace safety, which are typically unavailable in academic settings.
The program concluded with a group photograph followed by an industrial visit, where the trainees gained valuable insights into modern vehicle system operations and manufacturing practices.
The visit was an enriching experience for the trainees, strengthening the bond between Don Bosco Chinchwad and Knorr-Bremse, and reaffirming the shared vision of empowering youth through skill and service.
