On 28th August 2025, Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik organized a grand and inspiring Scout and Guide Oath Ceremony for the students of Grade 8. The event, held on the school premises, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and school leaders. With the theme “Build character through discipline – Be ready to serve the nation,” the ceremony sought to instill in young minds the values of discipline, service, and responsibility.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song that set a solemn and reflective tone for the occasion. Following this, the Grade 8 students took the official Scout and Guide Oath, pledging to uphold its principles and contribute positively to society and the nation. The cadets stood alert, smart, and confident, their expressions reflecting pride, dedication, and eagerness to serve.
In his address, Fr Rixson Nigrel, the Principal, emphasized the lifelong significance of the Scout and Guide movement. He reminded the cadets that scouting is not just about words spoken in an oath but about embracing it as a way of life. He urged them to dress smartly, conduct themselves with dignity, and live out the Scout promise by being ever ready to take up responsibility. “Scouting and Guiding strengthen discipline, self-reliance, and a deep sense of responsibility in individuals,” he noted, inspiring students to honour their commitment with sincerity.
The ceremony also featured spirited group activities, including slogan chanting and team games, which showcased the students’ teamwork, leadership, and coordination. These activities added vibrancy and energy to the event while reinforcing the core values of scouting and guiding. The success of the event was the result of the dedicated efforts of many. Special appreciation was extended to Principal, Fr Nigrel; Scout Master Mr Santosh Lahane; Mr Satish Kamble; Guide Captains Ms Lakshmi Upadhyay and Mrs Anagha Dusane; and the entire teaching and non-teaching staff, whose commitment and coordination ensured the smooth and meaningful conduct of the ceremony.
The event concluded with the resounding motto: “Service is the true identity.” The ceremony left a lasting impression on all present, especially the students, who walked away with a renewed sense of purpose, discipline, and readiness to serve as responsible citizens of the nation.
