This year marks a significant milestone in the life of Fr Thomas D'Costa as he celebrates 50 years of his religious profession. A journey that began in humble beginnings has blossomed into a remarkable legacy of faith, service, and dedication to the community.
Born and raised in a devout family, Fr D'costa felt the call to serve God from a young age. His early years were filled with spiritual exploration, leading him to join the seminary, where he nurtured his faith and developed a deep understanding of the teachings of Christ. In 1975, he made his solemn vows, committing his life to the service of God and the Church.
On Sunday, December 14, 2025, Resurrection Church in Virar East was filled to capacity as parishioners, family members, and friends gathered to honor Fr D'Costa for his remarkable 50 years of religious profession for this special mass at 5 p.m. The atmosphere was vibrant, reflecting the love and respect that the community holds for their beloved priest. Fr D'Costa expressed heartfelt gratitude to his immediate family, extended guests, fellow priests, nuns, and the dedicated parishioners who have supported him throughout his journey. His words resonated with warmth, acknowledging the collective effort that has contributed to his fulfilling ministry.
Following the solemn mass, the church grounds transformed into a lively gathering space where a felicitation program took place. Participants shared stories, laughter, and memories, celebrating not just Fr D'Costa's milestone but also the impact he has made in the lives of many. The event was a beautiful reminder of the bonds formed through faith and community. As Fr D'Costa reflected on his 50 years of service, he emphasized the importance of love, compassion, and dedication in the priesthood. His journey has been marked by countless blessings, and he remains committed to serving the community with the same passion that has defined his vocation.
The grand celebration after the mass began with the entrance dance with Fr D'costa in the umbrella accompanied by his immediate family members and guests in the East Indian Traditional Culture by the Catechism Children along with a skit presented by the youth of our Parish about the Complete Journey of Fr Thomas (The School Desk, Seminary Days, The Struggling Principal and Don Bosco Marathi Miracle) followed by felicitation by all groups and associations of various communities.
As he reflects on his 50 years of service, Fr D’Costa expresses immense gratitude for the experiences and relationships he has built along the way. He acknowledges the challenges he has faced but views them as opportunities for growth and learning. His faith has been a constant source of strength, guiding him through difficult times and allowing him to remain steadfast in his mission.
The celebration of Fr D’Costa's golden jubilee is not just a personal milestone; it is a moment for the entire community to come together in gratitude and appreciation. Special events are being organized to honor his contributions, including a solemn mass, a community gathering, and a tribute from those whose lives he has touched.
