The Provincial Visitation at St Dominic Savio High School, Andheri, marked yet another meaningful milestone in the school’s Salesian journey. The newly elected 12th Provincial of the Salesian Mumbai Province, Fr Ashley Miranda, visited the school on November 18, 2025, bringing a spirit of warmth, encouragement, and fatherly presence.
Fr Miranda began his visit with the vibrant Exhibition, where students displayed creativity through the Zero Waste Management Club, Roots & Shoots – Savion Trailblazers, Coding and Animation, Book Club, science models, art, craft, electric hardware, and Best Out of Waste displays.
The assembly opened with a gracious welcome by the School Captain, who invited Fr Miranda to walk the symbolic Path of Peace. Students lined the aisle with placards of hope, faith, family, service, love, and sustainability—values that shape the Savion family.
A significant moment followed during the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. As Fr Provincial lit the central lamp and dignitaries lit their lamps from his flame, it symbolised the passing of wisdom, shared leadership, and continuity of mission—a reminder that one light can ignite many. After a welcome by Fr Franco Pereira and the student report by the School Captain, the newly formed Gospel Choir, Hope and Harmony, uplifted the atmosphere with the melodious performance of their theme song.
In his address, Fr Miranda praised the school’s commitment to experiential learning and holistic growth. Amidst all the achievement, Fr Miranda encouraged students “not to run after big things, but to do small things with great love,” urging them to grow as responsible, compassionate, and environmentally conscious citizens.
During the staff gathering, teachers welcomed him with a sapling. What followed was memorable – Fr Miranda, a gifted storyteller, shared humorous and heartwarming episodes from his school days, recalling youthful classroom behaviour and spirited mischief. Amid the laughter, he reflected that what he cherished most was the love and care he received from his school. He urged the staff to continue teaching with love, consistency, and firm yet gentle guidance, ensuring every child feels valued, understood, and at home in true Salesian style.
The visit of the Provincial was a moment of grace and evaluation, strengthening the institution’s mission, identity, and Salesian journey.
