On November 12, 2025, the grounds of Don Bosco, Kawant, came alive with the cheerful sounds of laughter, music, and children’s excitement as the school hosted a special Funfair to mark Children’s Day. What made the day even more special was that it coincided with the distribution of first-term exam results, transforming a typically academic occasion into a joyful celebration for students, parents, teachers, and alumni alike.
The funfair carried a dual purpose — to promote healthy living among children and to show that nutritious food can also be delicious. The entire campus was divided into two vibrant zones. One section was lined with stalls offering wholesome, homemade dishes such as khichu, vegetable pulao, panipuri, boiled maize, bhajiya, and samosas. Each item reflected the message that traditional Indian snacks can be both healthy and satisfying. The other section was dedicated to lively fete games that encouraged children to move, play, think, and laugh together.
The day began quietly around 9 a.m., but within an hour the school grounds were brimming with families. The air buzzed with excitement as children darted between the game booths while the aroma of freshly prepared food filled the air. Smiling parents, meanwhile, chatted with teachers and friends, proud of their children’s achievements and grateful for this chance to celebrate as a family.
Many parents expressed their joy and appreciation for the thoughtful initiative. “Our children worked hard for their exams, and today we got to reward them in the healthiest way possible,” said one parent. “They not only enjoyed the games but also loved the food — it was so nice to see them having fun without junk food in sight!”
The event was a wonderful example of collaboration and community spirit. It was jointly organized by the Kawant Education Society, the Don Bosco School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), DISHA Don Bosco, and the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit of Kawant. Each group contributed time, effort, and creativity to ensure that the funfair would be both entertaining and meaningful.
Adding a deeper touch to the celebration, the funds raised from the stalls were dedicated to supporting children who are unable to pay their boarding fees. Parents gladly supported the initiative, knowing that every purchase contributed to a noble cause — helping ensure that no child is left behind due to financial difficulty.
By the end of the day, the Don Bosco grounds glowed with the satisfaction of a community that had come together for something bigger than itself. The funfair wasn’t just a day of games and food — it was a day of joy, generosity, and shared hope, creating memories that will linger in every heart for a long time to come.
