On December 19, 2025 at 9:30 a.m., the Santino Mondini Hall at the Don Bosco College (DBCL), Kurla campus was filled with faith, music, and emotion as it hosted a captivating Christmas Musical. More than just a performance, the event was a deeply moving experience that brought alive the true spirit of Christmas through the timeless story of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.
The Christmas Musical was entirely conceptualized, created, and performed by the students of Don Bosco College, making it a remarkable example of a student-driven initiative. Adding to its uniqueness was the collaboration among students from three departments—BMS, BAF, and BAMMC—who worked together with a shared vision. Despite rigorous academic schedules, the students committed over a month to daily rehearsals, followed by two intensive days of stage practice. Notably, all rehearsals were conducted after lecture hours, ensuring that no academic sessions were missed. This discipline and dedication reflected the strong work ethic and values upheld by the DBCL student community.
What made the production even more inspiring was the fact that every aspect of the musical was self-created by the students. From scripting and songwriting to choreography and stage execution, each element was crafted with sincerity and creativity. A live choir singing in five different voices added depth and emotional richness to the performance. The seamless coordination of drama, dance, and music resulted in a fluid narrative that held the audience spellbound throughout the one-hour presentation.
The dedication and talent displayed by the students earned widespread appreciation. Fr Nelson and Fr Mylin commended the performers for their commitment and creativity. Fr Nelson remarked that the musical was one of the finest events he had ever attended and emphasized that it had set a new benchmark for student-led initiatives at the college.
Special appreciation was extended to Dr Tanishia Lobo, the faculty in charge, whose guidance and encouragement played a crucial role in the success of the event. Reflecting on the experience, she shared, “Bringing this performance to life was no easy task, yet it stands as a testament that nothing is impossible when willpower meets dedication and perseverance. Every rehearsal and moment of collaboration culminated in a celebration of talent, creativity, and teamwork.”
Student leaders also reflected on their journey. Ms Laeticia Costa Corriea, Overall Student In-Charge, stated, “Managing the Christmas Musical was a profound learning experience in coordination, leadership, and teamwork. Every team—from performers to backstage crew—worked with unity and purpose, making the production both smooth and deeply rewarding.” Mr Neo Gonsalves, Student Coordinator and Choir Conductor, added, “Training students in four-part harmony was both challenging and rewarding, and it culminated in a musically cohesive and impactful Christmas production.”
Audience responses further highlighted the impact of the event. A student from the audience shared, “The musical was truly mesmerizing and left a lasting impression. Every performance felt heartfelt and sincere, making it easy to connect with the emotions portrayed on stage.”
Ultimately, the Christmas Musical was more than a festive celebration—it was a powerful expression of faith, teamwork, and youthful creativity. It left the DBCL community inspired and uplifted, reminding everyone that when passion, dedication, and collaboration come together, the true spirit of Christmas comes alive on stage.
