On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the Integrated Climate Resilient Watershed Project was formally inaugurated at Kavadgaon village, Ahilyanagar district, marking an important step towards strengthening water security and climate resilience at the grassroots level.
The project is supported by Exide Industries Pvt. Ltd. and implemented by Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, with a focus on sustainable watershed management, soil and water conservation, and community-led climate adaptation practices. The initiative aims to address growing challenges related to erratic rainfall, water scarcity, and land degradation, which directly impact rural livelihoods.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Mr Sandeep Munot, Chief Operation Manager, Exide Industries, and Mr Niranjan Kulkarni, Head – Plant HR, EXIDE Ahmednagar. Representatives from Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, village leaders, community members, and project staff were also present for the occasion.
Speaking during the programme, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of long-term, sustainable interventions that work in harmony with natural ecosystems while empowering local communities. Emphasis was laid on the role of corporate–community partnerships in addressing climate-related vulnerabilities in rural areas.
The Integrated Climate Resilient Watershed Project will focus on a range of interventions including watershed treatment, rainwater harvesting, soil moisture conservation, and community capacity building. Special attention will be given to strengthening local participation, ensuring that village institutions and residents are actively involved in planning, implementation, and monitoring processes.
Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, with its long-standing presence and experience in rural development, will work closely with the community to ensure that the project responds to local needs and builds resilience in a sustainable manner. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote environmental stewardship, climate adaptation, and livelihood security in drought-prone and climate-sensitive regions.
The inauguration at Kavadgaon marks the beginning of a collaborative journey aimed at protecting natural resources while securing a more resilient future for rural communities. Through shared responsibility and sustained action, the project seeks to create long-lasting impact for present and future generations.
