A one-day retreat on the theme “I Am Made in God’s Image” was held for the Catholic students of Don Bosco High School & Jr. College, Naigaon East, on August 30, 2025. The retreat, which ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., saw the participation of around 240 students and 25 teachers.
The program began with a warm welcome by the Rector, Fr Dominic Martis, who reflected on the retreat’s theme and urged the students to recognize the gift of life and to be grateful for God’s abundant blessings.
Sessions were conducted by Fr Sebastian Joseph CSsR, Fr Selvin D’Mello SDB, Fr Agnel Dias SDB, Br Royston Colaco SDB, Dn Aegidius Pereira SDB, and Sr Norma Fernandes. Students were divided into different age groups and engaged in activities and discussions that explored the theme in depth. These sessions helped them to understand that each of us is God’s unique creation and that we are called to live with gratitude for being made in His image. Sr Norma Fernandes conducted sessions especially for the girls of IX to XII, where she meaningfully conveyed the depth of God’s love for each one of us. She emphasized the importance of respecting our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit and responding faithfully to God’s call. Her session inspired the girls to value their dignity, embrace self-respect, and live with a deeper awareness of their unique role in God’s plan.
The retreat also included Adoration and Confession, followed by a lively sequence of events such as a Bible Quiz, skits on parables, action songs, and dances. The day culminated with the celebration of the Holy Mass, after which students were given refreshments.
The retreat was thoughtfully planned by the Vice-Principal, Fr Joaquim Fernandes SDB, and skilfully coordinated by the Supervisor, Ms Dorothy Fernandes. Teachers assigned various responsibilities and prepared and guided the students with dedication, ensuring the smooth flow of the program.
The day was truly a spiritual and joyful experience, filled with faith, energy, and enthusiasm. The Principal, Fr Anthony Fonseca, extended heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to making the retreat a memorable and enriching occasion for every participant.
