“Marriage is not just the union of two individuals, but a bond between two families, rooted in love, values, and understanding.”
The Singles Meet 2.0 was organised by Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada, Pune on August 24, 2025, in the School Hall from 3 p.m. onwards. The event brought together over 135 singles under one roof, with the aim of encouraging meaningful interactions, building friendships, and helping participants know each other better.
The program was hosted by Ms Sheena Pereira, parishoner of St.Francis De Sales, Shanwadi who warmly welcomed all the participants with a huge round of applause in the school hall. To encourage interaction, participants were handed Bingo cards. The activity required each person to mingle with others, learn something about them, and write their names on the card. Prizes were given for the top line, middle line, bottom line, and the full house making the game both fun and interactive.
Various group activities followed, designed to help participants understand each other’s likes, dislikes, and personalities. They were split into age groups, but were also encouraged to interact across groups. Another highlight was the speed interaction round, where after every three minutes, a buzzer signaled participants to move on and meet someone new. Simultaneously, the profiles of all participants were displayed on a projector, creating further opportunities for engagement.
Adding to the joy of the gathering, spot prizes were distributed for different games, and participants enjoyed dancing together on the dance floor. Snacks were served in between, and the evening concluded with a fellowship dinner. About 35 parents also attended this event to interact with the singles, ensuring a healthy balance of involvement and support.
The evening was enriched by the thoughtful address of Fr Michael Fernandes, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada. He emphasized that marriage is a significant life decision that should never be rushed. He cautioned that hasty decisions often lead to conflicts and difficulties, and instead encouraged participants to choose wisely and patiently. Fr. Michael highlighted that marriage should not be built on materialistic benefits, but on genuine compatibility, shared values, and mutual respect. Importantly, he reminded everyone that marriage is not just between two individuals, but also an alliance between two families, where harmony and adjustment are essential.
He further stressed the role of parents, advising them to guide their children without imposing decisions, and to respect their independence. His concluding message underscored the importance of patience, responsibility, family harmony, and respect for individual freedom in the journey towards marriage.
The program ended with a fellowship dinner, leaving participants with warm memories and meaningful connections. Singles Meet 2.0 was indeed a memorable and enriching gathering, reminding all present that love and marriage flourish best when founded on understanding and respect.
