The Under-17 Girls Basketball Team of Don Bosco High School, Naigaon, displayed remarkable skill, grit, and determination at the District Sports Office (DSO) Inter-School Basketball Tournament held at St. Augustine High School, Vasai, on September 18, 2025. The prestigious tournament saw the participation of 12 top teams from across the region, each vying for championship glory.
Don Bosco girls began their campaign with a nail-biting clash against Carmelite Convent School, Vasai. Holding their nerves, they secured a narrow 1-0 victory, setting the tone for the matches to follow. In the semifinals, the team rose to the occasion with an inspiring performance against National English School Vasai, outplaying their opponents with a convincing 2-0 win and storming into the finals.
The grand finale witnessed Don Bosco facing off against the strong contenders from St Xavier’s ICSE School Vasai. Despite their spirited fight and relentless teamwork, the girls went down 0-2. With this result, the Bosco girls proudly clinched the Runners-Up trophy, bringing great honour to the school.
The team’s outstanding performance is a testament to the relentless training and expert guidance of their coach, Mr Thomas Abraham, who has been instrumental in honing their skills, instilling discipline, and fostering a never-give-up attitude among the players.
Speaking about the team’s success, Sports In-Charge, Fr Joaquim Fernandes, the Vice-Principal, expressed, “Our girls have made us proud with their performance. Their fighting spirit and teamwork stood out throughout the tournament.”

These glorious achievements not only add another feather to Don Bosco’s sporting legacy but has also highlighted the power of perseverance, teamwork, and the will to excel.
