On January 29, 2026, Don Bosco Avsar, Matunga, Mumbai, in collaboration with NGO Masoom, successfully hosted a Mega Job Fair at their Don Bosco Matunga campus. Masoom works closely with the Night Schools of Mumbai, which serve the city’s young local and migrant population—students who work during the day and pursue their education at night.
Don Bosco Avsar works in the Mumbai province, with the youth and especially the marginalized youth, in areas of Career Guidance, Skill Training and Job Placement support.
At the inauguration, Fr Gregory D ‘Almeida, the Director of DB Avsar shared how the vision of St John Bosco of leading the youth towards gainful employment was coming alive through DB Avsars initiatiives like this Mega Job Fair. A short film, in Hindi on the life of St, John Bosco and his impact in the lives of poor and needy youth, was showcased. This helped all present to understand how Don Bosco worked for the weak and marginalized and through technical skill training helped the boys get good jobs.
This film gave the large number of people present at the job fair a chance to understand how helping in Job placements was a very important part of the mission of Don Bosco.
This large scale employment drive created a platform for young job seekers from night schools and colleges as well as other youth, to connect directly with companies in need of manpower, thus enabling in education to employment transition.
Key Outcomes
55 companies engaged in recruitment, offering over 700 vacancies
The fair drew 1,065 job seekers, with 50% being night school graduates and 50% general visitors.
Out of these, 635 candidates were shortlisted for employment opportunities after successfully clearing the on-spot interviews.
The Job fair received wide support from 106 NGOs & community organizations.
The on ground support was by DB Avsar and also Masoom staff and volunteers both from Masoom and from the Salesian community.
Overall, 1,258 individuals were part of this collaborative effort

Impact

This mega job fair has given us a hope to work for the needy youth and continue the collaboration with different companies and NGOs.
