With shouts of acclamation and praises to the Lord Jesus Christ, the little flock of St Joseph's Church, Kevadiya, Banswara, hailed the King of the Universe on Sunday, November 23, 2025. It was a day of the community to bear witness and express its allegiance to the person of Christ with renewed faith and hope amidst the hostile situation that persists in the society.
The solemnity opened with the gathering of the people in the courtyard of Mr Shyamlal Dindor to welcome Jesus for the Eucharistic procession. After a short introduction and prayer, the parishioners led by the crucifer, altar servers, men, women, children and the priest carrying aloft the Blessed Sacrament commenced the procession through the narrow paths of the village even as the youth sang songs of acclamation in honour of Christ the King in its centenary year since the inception of the solemnity by Pope Pius XI in 1925.
Typically held on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, the procession was led with the theme “Jesus Saviour: He Leads us into the Kingdom.” The procession made three brief halts to contemplate the nature of the God's Kingdom, the Kingdom of truth and life, the Kingdom of holiness and grace, the Kingdom of justice, love and peace. In solidarity with the universal Church and for the various community needs, intercessory prayers were offered for unity and to heal the wounds of hatred, war and division. The procession concluded with benediction.
The celebration of the holy Eucharist followed which was presided over by Fr Renold Lemos, administrator and youth delegate of Don Bosco, Banswara. Animation of the liturgy was done by two families from St Augustine's community with introduction and the prayer of the faithful. The singing with deep devotion and enthusiasm was done by young people. In his homily, Fr Lemos drew attention of the parishioners towards the King crucified preaching love and forgiveness. He further explained the difference between the 'earthly' king and Christ the King, who came to serve and not to be served and to give his life for the ransom of humanity.
Celebrating Christ the King of Universe with the procession and the Eucharist was indeed an act of devotion and trust in Jesus to seek blessing, healing and protection for the community.
