The team at Don Bosco Development Services, Nerul (DBDS), successfully organized a comprehensive Medical Camp at Belapur Tata Nagar, Sector 10 – Migrant Community, on November 15, 2025. This outreach initiative was specially planned as part of the Children’s Day programme, reinforcing DBDS’ commitment to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable children and families. The camp was conducted in collaboration with YMT Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Kharghar, whose medical team extended their expertise and support throughout the event.
In the weeks leading up to the programme, DBDS carried out a month-long preparation process that included field visits, community interactions, and logistical planning. The Field Officer played a key role in mobilizing residents, ensuring smooth coordination, and creating awareness about the medical services being offered. These efforts helped achieve strong community participation and ensured that the medical camp reached those who needed it most.
On the day of the event, the camp saw an encouraging turnout of more than 85 children who attended and received thorough medical check-ups and appropriate treatment from the Pediatricians present. In addition, 47 women availed themselves of health consultations and services provided by the Gynaecologist. The medical team consisted of 15 postgraduate students and 3 senior doctors, who worked together to deliver quality healthcare with compassion and care.
In celebration of Children’s Day, several engaging activities were organized for the young participants. These included a drawing competition, fun games, motivational songs, and a brief speech highlighting the significance of Children’s Day and the importance of nurturing children with love and opportunities. Gifts were distributed to all participants, adding joy to the event and making the celebration memorable for the children.
An impactful awareness skit on addiction and its harmful effects was presented as part of the programme. This skit aimed to educate both children and adults about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making positive life choices.
DBDS extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and students from YMT Homeopathy Medical College, Kharghar (Yerala Hospital) for their valuable collaboration and dedicated service. Their contribution played a vital role in the success of the camp.
The initiative ultimately aimed to promote better health, awareness, and overall well-being among the migrant community’s children and women. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Coordinator of the Social Development Department, followed by special appreciation for all Social Development team members whose efforts made the programme a meaningful and impactful one.
