A one-day Youth Convention on the theme “Youth in Social Change” was successfully organized by DRISTI at Don Bosco Kapadvanj on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The convention brought together more than 160 young people from 18 villages.
The programme began on a meaningful note with the reading of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, highlighting the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. This symbolic opening set the tone for the day.
Fr Pratap Damor, Director of Dristi Don Bosco, formally welcomed all the participants and encouraged them to actively engage in the sessions. He appreciated the presence of rural youth and their willingness to reflect on social issues.
The Chief Guest, Mr Himmat Chauhan, Founding Trustee of Pochabhai Foundation, Kambe, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message. He urged the youngsters to become responsible and aware citizens, to raise their voices against injustice, and to work together for the welfare and development of their villages.
Mr Shailesh Parmar, Programme Officer of Dristi, delivered a thought-provoking input on identifying the “enemies of our country” around us, such as social evils, corruption, and injustice. He stressed that youth can contribute meaningfully to the nation by honestly fulfilling their duties wherever they are.
The convention also included the presentation of the Annual Report of Youth Activities by Mr Sanjay Parmar, Staff of Dristi Don Bosco, highlighting the various initiatives and engagements carried out by the youth during the year.
A major highlight of the day was a live debate on the issue of child marriage, conducted by Mr Shailesh Parmar. Youth participants presented their views on the topic “Child Marriage must be eradicated”, leading to strong and insightful discussions. The debate concluded with a collective resolve to work towards eradicating child marriage from society.
Adding to the attraction of the event was a selfie point based on the Indian Constitution, which drew great interest among the participants. Additionally, five youth groups presented project work on the Constitution and Human Rights, which was displayed and visited by many youngsters. Special performances related to the theme were also presented by youth groups.
Each youth group received sports articles as encouragement. The programme concluded with a joyful lunch and group dance. As a souvenir, participants were given leaflets containing the Preamble, Fundamental Duties, and Fundamental Rights.
