Don Bosco High School, Savedi, which offers both Marathi and Semi-English medium education, celebrated English Week with great zeal and enthusiasm from August 25 to 30 2025. The students of the school mostly come from a Marathi-speaking background, yet the way they embraced the celebration of English Week was truly inspiring and commendable. The entire week aimed at creating awareness about the importance of the English language, boosting confidence, and encouraging the students to use English effectively in their daily lives.
The concluding day of the week-long celebration, English Day, was held on August 30, 2025. The chief guest for the day was Fr Ajit Munis, the respected Principal of Don Bosco Vidyalay. He was joined by Fr Mavron and Br Sheldon, who also blessed the event with their presence. All the guests were given a warm welcome by the staff and students.
The program began with a soulful prayer song presented by the students, invoking God’s blessings for the success of the event. This was followed by a short but impactful presentation on the significance of English as a global language, highlighting how it connects people worldwide and opens doors to endless opportunities.
Students from various classes came forward with enthusiasm and showcased their talents through a variety of programmes such as action songs, skits, report reading, dance, recitation, and conversation drills. What made these performances special was the fact that most of the participants come from a completely Marathi background, yet they confidently performed in English with fluency and clarity. These activities not only reflected their hidden talents but also helped them overcome hesitation and build self-confidence in using the English language.
The teachers too contributed to the program by presenting motivational thoughts and practical tips for mastering English communication. They emphasized how learning English can serve as a bridge to knowledge, global culture, and better career opportunities.
A major highlight of the program was a skit performed by the senior students, which conveyed a powerful message about discipline and hard work in studies. The performance was appreciated by everyone present, as it combined creativity, moral values, and fluent use of English.
In his concluding address, Principal Fr Munis congratulated both students and teachers for their dedication and effort in making English Week a grand success. He encouraged the students to continue practicing English not just as a subject, but as a valuable life skill that would help them in higher studies and future careers.
The celebration ended with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, staff, students, and guests. The English Week at Don Bosco High School, Savedi, proved to be an enriching and enjoyable experience for all, and a shining example of how determination and enthusiasm can overcome barriers of language.
