Don Bosco Avsar, Mumbai Office, inaugurated its “Classroom to Career Series”, on February 5, 2026, a six-part career guidance initiative designed to accompany undergraduate youth in discerning their vocation and preparing for a successful and fulfilling professional life.
The inaugural seminar, titled “How to Land Your Dream Job,” was held at the AV Room of the Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga Campus, and witnessed the participation of 52 college-going students, mainly from second- and third-year undergraduate programmes.
The programme opened with reflections by Don Bosco Avsar team members Ms Lolita and Mr Agnelo, who highlighted the life and mission of St. John Bosco and his unwavering commitment to the holistic formation of young people. They shared that Don Bosco Avsar continues this Salesian legacy through career guidance seminars, skill development programmes, and job placement support, including job fairs and partnerships with recruiting companies.
“At the heart of Don Bosco’s mission was a simple yet powerful conviction: every young person has potential. Our work at Don Bosco Avsar is to help young people discover that potential and translate it into a meaningful future.” - DB Avsar Team.
The seminar was led by renowned industry veteran, management consultant, and corporate trainer Mr Vincent D’Silva, who brings over four decades of experience across national and international organisations. Through an engaging and practical approach, he introduced students to career planning, self-awareness, and essential life skills for today’s evolving world of work.
“Your degree is important, but your skills, attitude, and willingness to keep learning will define your success.”— Mr. Vincent D’Silva, Resource Person
Participants undertook standardized self-assessment exercises that helped them identify their strengths, personality traits, aptitude, and confidence levels. Students were guided on how to interpret these insights and align them with suitable career pathways.
Emphasising continuous growth, Mr D’Silva encouraged students to intentionally build their profiles during college by learning new skills, pursuing internships, and using free online platforms to upgrade competencies in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, and digital skills.
Students were also urged to use vacations productively by interning with social organisations, as well as small and medium enterprises, gaining practical exposure and developing a service-oriented mindset.
The session concluded with a clear roadmap for progressing towards one’s dream career. Students were invited to avail themselves of one-to-one career counselling with the Don Bosco Avsar team through prior appointments, and many expressed keen interest in this personalized guidance.
Don Bosco Avsar expressed gratitude to nearby colleges, parishes & the DBPH community for facilitating student participation and reaffirmed its commitment to walking with young people as they discern their gifts and shape a hopeful future.
