“Stars shine not by chance, but by effort, just like champions who rise through hope and hard work.”
The Annual Sports Day of Don Bosco Secondary School was held on November 21, 2025. The atmosphere was filled with energy and excitement as the school celebrated the Grand Sports Day with great pomp and splendour. The programme began with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mr Sudhiran Ravindran, Chief Operating Officer at Solitaire Group of Companies. He was accompanied by the Rector Fr Crispino D’Souza, Parish Priest Fr Michael Fernandes, Headmistress of the Primary Section Mrs Sangeeta Patil, Secondary Supervisor Mrs Manjusha Thorat, Head Teacher Mrs Varsha Hiwale and the Principal, Fr Glen Fernandes.
Fr Glen introduced the Chief Guest, highlighting his achievements and contributions to the corporate world. A sapling was presented as a token of respect, symbolising growth and a greener future.
This year’s theme, “Enriching Hope and Empowering Future,” came alive as the four houses Red, Blue, Yellow and Green marched smartly in the March Past displaying unity, discipline and pride. After the Sports Oath and Prayer, Mr Sudhiran Ravindran declared the Sports Meet for 2025–26 open marking the beginning of an exciting day of contests and sportsmanship.
One of the major highlights was the colourful Mass Drill:
* Red House energized the field with hula hoops,
* Blue House impressed with their silver stars,
* Green House shone with symbolic candles, and
* Yellow House added charm with vibrant umbrellas.
The lively Zumba performances by all houses promoted fitness, enthusiasm and teamwork.
Before the main day, students had participated in indoor, outdoor and field events with great interest. The thrill of sportsmanship reached its peak during the gripping Tug of War and the exciting Relay Races.
The school band added to the spirit of the day by playing a selection of inspiring sports songs. Under the guidance of Fr Crispino, the young musicians performed confidently and in perfect harmony.
The following achievements added to the pride of the day:
* Best March Past: Green House
* Zumba Winner: Blue House
* Best Mass Drill: Directed by Ms Hazel Jesus
* Overall Championship: Green House
The Chief Guest appreciated the discipline, enthusiasm and outstanding performances of the students. He praised the March Past, Mass Drill and Zumba acknowledging the teachers for their hard work in making the event successful.
Several students won Individual Championships, including Shaurya Gaikwad (6B), Angel Tupe (8B) and Ziyaan Shaikh (9B).
Sharing his joy, Ziyaan said, “I am truly blessed to be in a school where sports is given such importance. I am glad that I am a winner and will cherish this victory for a lifetime.”
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Head Teacher Mrs Varsha Hiwale, expressing gratitude to all for their support.
