The Annual Sports Fiesta 2025–26 at Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, held on November 21, 2025, was a vibrant celebration of athletic excellence, discipline, and youthful enthusiasm. The event brought together students, faculty members, parents, and esteemed guests in an atmosphere charged with excitement and aspiration. The day-long festivities showcased not only sporting talent but also the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship that the school deeply values.
The programme commenced with an impressive Opening Ceremony that set a dignified and inspiring tone for the day. The Chief Guest, Mr Pradeep Sundaram, a distinguished coach renowned for mentoring leading cricket players such as Shardul Thakur and guiding university teams to major victories, was warmly welcomed and felicitated. In his motivational address, he urged students to cultivate discipline, resilience, and a passion for excellence—qualities that define true sportsmanship. His words resonated strongly with the young athletes, encouraging them to strive for their personal best.
The ceremonial proceedings reflected rich tradition and school pride. The hoisting of the sports flag marked the formal beginning of the fiesta, followed by a meticulously coordinated March Past that exhibited discipline, unity, and respect for the sport. The Torch Run and Lighting of the Flame served as powerful symbols of integrity and determination, inspiring all present. The athletes then took the Sportsmanship Pledge, affirming their commitment to fairness and honourable participation throughout the meet.
A wide spectrum of competitions from Classes III to XII formed the heart of the event. The track and field events—ranging from energetic 50-metre sprints for younger students to endurance-driven marathons for seniors—were executed with remarkable zeal. Age-appropriate categories ensured that every child had an equal opportunity to participate and excel. The relay races stood out as a highlight, showcasing electrifying teamwork and spirited coordination among participants. The smooth scheduling allowed for healthy competition while providing moments of rest and refreshment for both athletes and spectators. Meanwhile, well-planned arrangements ensured that non-participating students were comfortable and engaged throughout the day.
The prize distribution ceremony celebrated achievements across all categories, honouring students from Classes III to XII for their commendable performances. The applause and encouragement illustrated the school community’s pride in the students’ efforts and accomplishments.
The Closing Ceremony brought the day to a fitting and graceful conclusion. Distinguished guests, including Fr Shekar Mariadas (Vice Principal and Administrator), Fr Allwyn Misquitta (Catechist), and Principal Mrs. Kalyani Chaudhuri, graced the occasion. The extinguishing of the flame, lowering of the sports flag, and formal closing of the meet marked the end of the festivities. A sincere Vote of Thanks by Mrs Reena Dias, Middle School Supervisor, acknowledged the collective contributions that made the event a resounding success.
