On a crisp Saturday morning, November 22, 2025, the vibrant campus of Don Bosco English Medium School, Narukot, transformed into a hub of energy and enthusiasm as it hosted its 5th Annual Sports Day under the inspiring theme, "Pilgrims with the Young." The event, which began at 9:00 a.m., was a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing not just academic excellence but also physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The ceremony kicked off with a grand welcome for the Chief Guest, Fr Ashwin Mal SDB, Principal of Don Bosco, Kapadvanj School, who was escorted by Fr Elson, Fr Daresh, Fr Vinay, Br Jerome, Sr Pushpa, and the school Scouts. Fr Elson, the Rector of Don Bosco, Narukot, greeted Fr Ashwin Mal with a shawl and flowers, setting a tone of reverence and joy. Fr Elson introduced the Chief Guest, highlighting his contributions to education and youth development.
The symbolic Torch Run, led by the Head Boy Sandeep Rathva and Head Girl Helina Barua, accompanied by two students from each team, marked the official opening of the event. Fr. Ashwin Mal, in his address, emphasized the role of sports in shaping disciplined, resilient individuals. He praised the school’s progress, recalling its role in grooming students who excelled in fields like the army, police, and medicine. With a smile, he declared the Sports Day open.
The prayer dance invoked divine blessings, followed by energetic sports and Zumba performances that left the audience in awe. The physical display of pyramids underscored the power of collaboration, while the mass drill showcased impeccable coordination. The ground was abuzz with the Track & Field events 50m, 100m, 200m races, relays, and tug of war with participants giving their all. The judges worked tirelessly to tally scores as Fr Daresh and Fr Vinay engaged parents and staff in fun games, fostering a sense of community.
The highlight of the day was the prize distribution ceremony, where medals, trophies, and certificates were awarded to the winners. Helina, the School Head Girl, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, encapsulating the gratitude of the students. Fr Daresh concluded the event with instructions for the school, and the assembly sang the National Anthem with pride. The day ended with snacks for all, leaving everyone with smiles and memories.
The 5th Annual Sports Day reaffirmed Don Bosco’s ethos: "Run, Jump, Play but do not sin." As the young athletes left with medals and memories, the message was clear: teamwork, perseverance, and joy are the true victories.
