Echoing the National YaR campaign theme for 2025-2026, "Uphold our Hopes – Unfold our Dreams," Bosco Boys Home, Borivali, opened its gates on November 16 for a vibrant Bal Mela. The event united over 161 children from its community centres in Ganpati Patil Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Bhim Nagar, Shimpoli, and Sai Baba Nagar, along with groups from Prayas NGO. A special sense of family was felt with the presence of children from Shelter Don Bosco, Wadala, who joined the festivities, accompanied by Fr Rudolf.
The afternoon buzzed with energy as the grounds transformed into a vibrant fair with 20 fete games. The hostel boys, alongside 19 dedicated volunteers from MKES and Sophia College, managed the stalls with great enthusiasm. Laughter and cheers filled the air as children won tickets and collected gifts. Naziya Siddiqui, a college volunteer, shared, "I never imagined the event would be on such a grand scale. The best part was watching the children laugh without a care in the world. Their pure excitement was truly heartwarming."
The excitement continued with spontaneous spot prizes before everyone gathered for a spectacular show. The audience was captivated by the brilliant mimicry and magic of Mr Sagar Patel and his playful companion, Jack. The children were in splits as Sagar masterfully imitated various characters. This was a thrilling magic show that captivated the audience, leaving them wide-eyed with wonder.
The celebration then took a dynamic turn as children from each community centre took to the stage for group dance performances, showcasing incredible energy and coordination. This was followed by soulful solo and slow dance numbers, where individual talents shone brightly, drawing thunderous applause from the audience.
Following the entertainment, the dedicated community volunteers were felicitated. Fr Roshan then addressed the children, linking their performances to the day's powerful theme. He inspired them to protect their hopes and diligently pursue their dreams, assuring them of the Bosco family's unwavering support in their journey.
As the evening set in, children enjoyed a hearty dinner before heading home with takeaway gifts, carrying with them cherished memories and a reinforced belief in a future filled with promise.
