In a remarkable display of dedication and compassion, Fr Elson Barretto SDB, the rector of Don Bosco Narukot, has conceptualized the "School on Wheels" initiative, also affectionately known as "પૈડાની પાઠશાલા" (Paydani Patshala). This innovative program aims to bridge the educational gap in rural villages by providing quality education to the poorest of the poor children. The initiative, which began in June, has been making waves in the community, bringing hope and opportunities to countless young minds.
The Disciples of Jesus (DJS) congregation at Don Bosco Narukot has taken up the responsibility of implementing this initiative along with the Salesians and the development team at Don Bosco Narukot. Sr Johani Soreng and Sr Madhuri Baa, members of the DJS congregation, are at the forefront of this effort. With unwavering enthusiasm, they drive into the villages, full speed, with their vehicle adorned with educational materials. Their dedication is a testament to the power of selfless service and compassion.
Reaching Out to the Unreached
Sr Johani and Sr Madhuri visit 26 villages, covering 24 villages in the Jambuguda district and 2 villages in the Halol district. Every weekday, from 8:30 am to 11 am, they dedicate their time to educating children in these villages. Their efforts are not just about imparting academic knowledge but also about fostering a sense of community and social responsibility. By providing education, they are empowering these children with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their socio-economic status and become good and honest citizens of our country.
Don Bosco Narukot community's "School on Wheels" initiative serves as a model for innovative and inclusive education. This program demonstrates the impact of dedication and hard work in empowering rural communities. The initiative embodies the spirit of Don Bosco's philosophy, "For you I study, for you I work, for you I live, for you I am willing even to give my life." This quote is not just a statement; it's a way of life for the individuals involved in this initiative.
The "School on Wheels" initiative is a shining example of the transformative power of education. By empowering rural children with knowledge and skills, Don Bosco Narukot is paving the way for a brighter future. As we reflect on the impact of this initiative, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, dedication, and community service. The selfless service of Sr Johani, Sr Madhuri, and the entire Don Bosco Narukot community is an inspiration to us all, demonstrating the profound impact that dedicated individuals can have on the lives of others.
Viva Don Bosco! The "School on Wheels" initiative is a testament to the power of innovation and dedication in making a difference in the lives of others. As we look to the future, we hope that this initiative will continue to inspire and empower rural communities, providing opportunities for generations to come.
