On November 23, 2025, Don Bosco Campus at Chhotaudepur came alive with energy and the joyful spirit of competition as students from the Village Education Program (VEP) gathered for their Annual Sports Festival. A total of 283 students from 20 villages arrived after having qualified through various local-level games held in their respective villages. Their enthusiasm and determination set the tone for a memorable day of togetherness and healthy sporting spirit.
The event began at 9.30 a.m. with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the beginning of yet another year of opportunities and growth for the children. The chief guest for the day was Fr Stanny Ferreira, Administrator of Don Bosco Chhotaudepur. In his address, he shared valuable insights from his many years of working closely with village communities. His words resonated deeply with the young participants as he encouraged them to remain focused, cultivate discipline, and strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives. His message served as both inspiration and affirmation for the children, many of whom continue to overcome daily challenges to pursue education and personal progress.
The Sports Festival was organized by Lok Seva Kendra, the social work sector of Don Bosco Chhotaudepur, which has long been committed to the upliftment of tribal and rural communities. The event was coordinated by Fr George Carlos, the Rector, whose guidance ensured the smooth execution of the day’s activities. He was ably supported by Mr Magan, Mr Khulsing, the boarding master, and the dedicated team of VEP teachers. Together, they prepared a diverse lineup of sports and games, giving every child an opportunity to participate according to their talent and interest.
After an exciting first half of the day, the children were served a wholesome lunch at 1 p.m., offering them a well-deserved break. The afternoon session featured the much-anticipated prize distribution ceremony, where winners were recognized for their outstanding performances. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and encouragement as students celebrated not only victory but also teamwork, effort, and sportsmanship. The event concluded with a warm and heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr Magan, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizers, teachers, and participants, appreciating the collective spirit that made the festival a resounding success. The event concluded at 2 p.m. and the children went away with happy memories.
