The Don Bosco Edu Complex, Pune, celebrated its 51st Annual Day on February 6, 2026 with dignity, devotion, and joy, reflecting the institution’s enduring commitment to holistic education in the spirit of Don Bosco.
The programme commenced with a disciplined Guard of Honour escorting the dignitaries, followed by a graceful red-carpet welcome. The occasion was sanctified with a traditional Aarti, garlanding of Don Bosco’s statue, and a serene lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolising knowledge and enlightenment.
The celebration began with a charming welcome dance by the tiny tots of Savio Kindergarten, followed by a soul-stirring prayer dance by the secondary section girls, setting a reflective and reverent tone.
The dignitaries present included Rector Fr. Crispino D’Souza, Principal Fr. Glen Fernandes, Chief Guest Fr. Donald Fernandez, Parish Priest Fr.Michael Fernandes, Administrator Fr. Gregory D’Cunha, Junior College Supervisor Sir Leo D’Souza, Headmistress Mrs Varsha Hiwale, Secondary Supervisor Mrs. Manjusha Thorat, Primary Supervisor Mrs. Sangeeta Patil, Pre-Primary Supervisor Mrs. Rina Chandekar, Former Principal Fr. Bosco D’Mello, and social worker Mr. John Paul and HR Sir Madhan Nair. They were felicitated with bouquets presented by students.
In his welcome address Fr. D’Souza reflected on the musical play Mickey Magone, highlighting how Don Bosco believed in guiding every child whether disciplined or difficult through love and presence, leading to true transformation.
A significant moment of the evening was the unveiling of the Golden Jubilee Souvenir by Fr. Donald. This was followed by the celebration of 50 years of priestly ordination of Fr. Michael Fernandes. Fr. Glen presented the citation and shawl, while Fr. Michael spoke passionately about dedication in life, citing Rahul Dravid as an example of commitment and quiet leadership.
Scholarships were presented to children for their outstanding academic performance.
Another emotional highlight was the felicitation of Headmistress Mrs Hiwale, who will soon be retiring. She was presented a citation and a gift by Mrs. Thorat. In her response, Mrs. Hiwale expressed gratitude to the institution, shared fond memories of her appointment, and emphasised the lifelong importance of education.
In his address, the Chief Guest Fr. Donald delivered a meaningful message urging parents to care for their children, children to respect their parents, and teachers to make students feel valued, as feelings leave lasting impressions.
The Annual Report highlighted the school’s academic, co-curricular, and value-based achievements. The musical play “Mickey Magone”, supported by melodious songs rendered by the school choir, conveyed a powerful message that one caring person can change a life and that every child deserves love and respect. A graceful dance by past pupils expressed gratitude towards their Alma Mater.
The programme was confidently compered by Miss Khanak Thakur and Miss Sujal Shelar and concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Miss Rutuja Kusale and Miss Swarali Shinde. The celebration ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem played by the school band.
The audience praised the programme and appreciated the students’ efforts.
