Don Bosco Technical Institute, Chinchwad conducted elections for the positions of Technical Captain, Vice Captain, and Workshop Monitors, generating enthusiastic participation among students and candidates. Master Pratik Torne was elected as the Captain, while Moses Gudekar secured the position of Vice Captain for the academic year 2025-26.
Following the elections, an orientation camp was organized for the newly appointed leaders and workshop monitors. The program emphasized the importance of leadership and responsibility in guiding their peers.
Fr Anton D'Souza, the institute’s Director, inaugurated the camp by introducing the theme and resource persons. He underscored the leaders' role in steering their classmates toward achieving the institute’s objectives, which focus on youth empowerment through skill development and fostering a dignified life.
The orientation began with team-building games designed to promote coordination and enthusiastic participation among the students.
Mr Vincent Dias led a session on responsibility, stressing the importance of completing assigned tasks and obeying management directives. He reminded the leaders that leadership qualities flourish when one willingly embraces responsibilities.
Participants were divided into three groups for a craft activity that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and steady contribution. The vibrant crafts created brought about spirited cheers, highlighting team unity.
Mr Shinde, an Army man, emphasized the importance of punctuality, proper reporting, and fulfilling responsibilities assigned by management as key elements of effective leadership.
Mr Shinde encouraged the student monitors to remain receptive to learning, embrace feedback, and stay vigilant in their duties, underlining that these traits foster growth, responsibility, and lasting fulfillment in any leadership journey.
He advised the Monitors to adopt a culture of continuous learning which is crucial for growth and fulfilment in leadership roles. To be flexible and to have an open mind to prepare individuals to respond positively to change and offer constructive criticism.
The speaker ended his session by emphasizing that alertness and steadiness are crucial traits for effective leadership and monitoring. He underlined that these qualities ensure leaders can respond quickly to challenges and maintain consistent performance, which are especially important in periods of responsibility and public life. The speaker encouraged everyone to stay disciplined, focus more on action than words, uphold accountability, and remain vigilant to safeguard both personal integrity and the reputation of their group.
The camp also featured inspiring success stories of exemplary leaders, emphasizing that hard work garners respect and enables one to lead a dignified life in society.
The day concluded with refreshments, including snacks and biryani, which the leaders enjoyed. They expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors and resource persons who contributed to the event’s success.
Captain Pratik Torne thanked the Management and sponsors, committing on behalf of all leaders to working diligently toward the institute’s goals.
