By Fr McEnroe Lopes for BIS Mumbai
In a spirit of hope and opportunity, the Don Bosco Avsar Centre was inaugurated on September 28, 2025, at St. Anne’s Church, Ahilyanagar.
In his address, Fr McEnroe Lopes recalled Don Bosco’s tireless commitment to empowering young people through meaningful work and education. He highlighted how Don Bosco, beginning with simple initiatives like the printing press, created avenues of employment and dignity for the youth of his time. Connecting this Salesian legacy to the present, he underlined the Province’s vision behind establishing Don Bosco Avsar: to open doors of employment, skill-building and growth for the young, especially those most in need.
The new centre at Ahilyanagar joins the growing network of Don Bosco Avsar initiatives across the Province of St Francis Xavier Mumbai and especially in the Ahmednagar region, each designed to bridge the gap between young job-seekers and opportunities for a secure livelihood.
The inauguration concluded with words of gratitude to all who made this initiative possible and a prayer that Don Bosco Avsar may continue to serve as a beacon of hope for the youth of the region.
