On November 22 and 23, 2025, the sanctuary of Resurrection Church, Virar East, glowed with a double celebration in the weekend. While the faithful gathered to honor the patroness of music, St. Cecilia, and to proclaim the majesty of Christ the King, the parish also welcomed the blessed Jubilee Cross, a symbol of redemption and hope, escorted by Redemptorist priest Fr Andrew Dantis, CSsr, and Fr Joyston Machado, SDB, together with the vibrant youth and choir of the parish.
The program unfolded in a seamless flow of worship, prayer, and reverence from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Mass opened with a solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist, inviting all present to partake in the Body and Blood of Christ. The parish choir, accompanied by the youth band, lifted voices in contemporary hymns, creating a bridge between timeless liturgy and modern expression.
Fr Dantis and Fr Machado delivered a stirring homily on “Living the Jubilee Spirit,” and “Let Christ Reign in Our Hearts, Homes, and World.” urging the community to embody forgiveness, generosity, and hope.
A second round of uplifting songs reinforced the message of renewal, with the youth choir leading a spirited rendition of “Alleluia, Praise the Lord.”
The faithful spent quiet moments in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, reflecting on personal journeys of faith.
The central aspect of the day, the Blessed Sacrament, was carried in a solemn procession, flanked by candles and incense, in the church and church campus symbolising “Let Christ Reign in Our Hearts, Homes, and World.” by Fr Andrew Dantis, CSsr and Our Parish Priest Fr Thomas D'costa, SDB.
The Mass concluded with a powerful benediction, sending the congregation forth with the peace of Christ.
Finally, parishioners approached the cross to venerate it, offering prayers for personal and communal redemption.
Following the veneration, the community entered a contemplative Taizé prayer. The simple, repetitive chants “Jesus, remember me,” “Lord, have mercy,” and “May the Lord bless you and keep you” filled the nave, inviting each heart into a deep, meditative silence. The gentle rhythm allowed the faithful to linger in the grace of the Jubilee, fostering a shared sense of peace and unity.
The involvement of the youth and choir added a fresh, energetic dimension to the liturgy. Their participation not only showcased the talent within the parish but also underscored the intergenerational bond that sustains the church’s mission.
The arrival of the Jubilee Cross and the presence of Fr Andrew Dantis and Fr Joyston Machado have left an indelible imprint on Resurrection Church.
As the parish moves forward, the spirit of the Jubilee marked by forgiveness, renewal, and abundant grace will continue to inspire ministries, outreach programs, and daily living.
