BAL MELA 2025 was organised on 30 December 2025 as a joyful and child-centred celebration for migrant children under a special project supported by the Salesian Missions and implemented by the Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK). The event created a safe, inclusive space where children could experience joy, learning, and cultural expression.
Children from migrant families often face challenges such as frequent relocation, unstable living conditions, and disrupted access to education. Under this project, BGVK regularly conducts support classes for migrant children, focusing on foundational learning, continuity in education, and overall development. BAL MELA 2025 was organised as an extension of this effort—offering children a day that combined learning with play, creativity, and celebration.
The mela featured a variety of activities designed to support the holistic development of children. Interactive games encouraged teamwork, confidence, and cooperation, while storytelling sessions stimulated imagination and curiosity. Learning-based activities were creatively integrated into play, ensuring that education remained enjoyable and accessible. Cultural dance performances added colour and vibrancy to the day, allowing children to express their talents and cultural identities with pride.
A significant highlight of the event was the address by Fr George D'abreo, who spoke to the children about the importance of dreaming big and believing in their potential. In his warm and encouraging message, he reminded them that their circumstances do not define their future and urged them to hold on to hope, determination, and self-confidence as they pursue their dreams.
BAL MELA 2025 was organised through the dedicated efforts of BGVK staff members Arjun, Vilas, and Yogesh, under the guidance of Project Coordinator Sachin Sable. Their coordination and commitment ensured the smooth conduct of the event and a welcoming environment for all participants.
For many children, BAL MELA was more than a festive gathering—it was a moment of belonging, encouragement, and joy. The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm witnessed throughout the day reaffirmed the importance of creating child-friendly spaces that nurture learning, dignity, and happiness.
Through BAL MELA 2025, the Salesian Mission and Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra reaffirmed their commitment to child rights, joyful learning, and the holistic development of migrant children—strengthening efforts to help every child learn, grow, and dream with hope.
