Friday, September 26, 2025, was a day of joy and gratitude at St. Therese of Child Jesus Parish, Kuwait as Altar Servers were celebrated for their dedicated and selfless service to the Church. The event, organised by the Salesian Cooperators - Kuwait Unit, brought together the young servers, their coordinators, Spiritual Director Fr Savio D’souza and the parish clergy – Fr Derrick Misquitta SDB and Fr James Tuscano SDB, for a half-day of appreciation, fun, and fellowship. The theme was “Anchored in Hope, Sailing with Christ.”
A registration desk was well set with the presence of our cooperators to welcome our Altar Servers along with the snacks and juices served. Upon arrival, each participant was assigned to a group by tying coloured ribbons to their wrists — a gesture that added both colour and camaraderie to the occasion. Around 100 Altar Server boys were registered for the event, the boys looked so happy full of cheer as they entered the venue.
A welcome address was given by our Spiritual Coordinator, Mr Raymond Rego, along with the Assistant Coordinator of the Altar Servers, Mr Gavril D’silva.
The day was specially curated to celebrate the Altar Servers, and their contributions did not go unnoticed. The presence of all our Salesian Priests along with Salesian Cooperator’s Spiritual Director Fr Savio D’Souza SDB, who is also the Parish Priest, added to the occasion’s significance.
The program highlights included:
· Motivational games and activities, organized by our Salesian cooperators which kept our boys active and to enjoy the day
· An inspiring talk that encouraged continued dedication and spiritual growth by the Altar Server's Spiritual Director Fr Joe Fernandes SDB
· Recognition of coordinators, who were each presented with a souvenir as a token of appreciation
· Awarding of certificates to outstanding Altar Servers — Certificates and gifts were awarded to three from the Seniors and three from the juniors for their outstanding attendance as a Altar boy in the Parish.
The event would not be complete without the presence of our dynamic and young MC Mr Russell Fenandes who is also our Salesian Cooperator Aspirant who kept the boys busy with his wonderful games which the boys enjoyed and kept them busy. He was accompanied by his daughter, a young and dynamic DJ, who helped us with lovely music for the event.
The celebration concluded with thanking the Spiritual Directors, organisers, coordinators and the children for their presence and participation. Fr Savio D’Souza SDB gave the final blessings. The day created joyful memories that will be cherished for a long time.
Delicious food pack was served and lot of cheer and encouragement could be seen in all our Altar boys as they moved back home.
It was truly a memorable day—a beautiful blend of recognition, encouragement, and community spirit.
