DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant took another step toward digital empowerment and community development by organizing a one-day training workshop on filling online applications for various government schemes on October 13, 2025. The training aimed to equip volunteers from the Kawant block with practical skills to assist villagers in accessing and applying for government benefits online.
The session was conducted by experienced trainers — Mr Shailesh Parmar, Programme Officer of DRISTI Don Bosco, Kapadvanj; Mr Mehulbhai Chauhan; and Mr Rizvanbhai Kaji, both from Balasinor. The workshop brought together 32 enthusiastic participants eager to learn and serve their communities.
For several years, DISHA Don Bosco has been committed to helping people, especially those in rural and tribal areas, to benefit from various government welfare schemes. However, one of the major challenges has been the shortage of skilled computer operators who can help villagers fill in online forms. To address this gap, the organization launched this initiative to prepare a team of trained volunteers who can support the upcoming Government Scheme Implementation Camp to be held soon at Kawant.
During the workshop, the participants were introduced to a range of important government schemes such as Aadhaar card update, mobile number linking, Aadhaar download, E-KYC, Ayushman Bharat card, ABHA card, Farmer Registration, Ration Card, PAN Card, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, among others. The resource persons provided both theoretical input and hands-on practical training in the computer lab, ensuring that participants not only understood the process but also gained real-time experience.
The sessions were highly interactive and practical in nature. Participants worked directly on computers to simulate the process of online application and problem-solving. The trainers emphasized accuracy, user-friendliness, and the importance of data privacy while handling people’s personal information.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Mayank Parmar sdb, Director of DISHA Don Bosco, expressed his appreciation to the trainers and participants for their commitment. He remarked, “This training is not only for the service of others but also a learning opportunity for you all. You will be helping your community while also developing a valuable skill that can provide you with self-employment and income opportunities.”
The participants were equally motivated. Mr Kaushik Rathwa, one of the trainees, shared, “I am very happy to attend this training. I have learned how to fill different forms online, and I am excited to help my fellow villagers get their work done without paying anyone. It feels good to be able to serve and support others.”
The day concluded with a strong sense of commitment among the volunteers. They pledged to actively participate in the upcoming government scheme implementation camp organized by DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant. Through this initiative, they hope to bridge the digital divide and make essential public services accessible to all, especially to those living in remote tribal areas.
This one-day workshop was not merely a training session but a step toward empowering rural youth, promoting digital literacy, and building a more inclusive society — where technology serves the poor, and service becomes a pathway to empowerment.
