Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS), Walvanda, successfully organized a vibrant and joyful Bal Melava 2026 (Children’s Fair) on February 8, 2026, with the noble objective of nurturing the hidden talents of students, promoting their holistic development, and creating an engaging learning environment.
A total of 924 participants attended the event, including 748 students from 40 SEEP (Supportive Education Empowerment Program) class schools and the Oratory Centre, Walvanda. The enthusiastic participation of parents added significant value to the celebration. The campus was filled with excitement as educational, cultural, and games activities were conducted throughout the day.
The programme was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Fr Jayaseelan Savariarpitchai from Divyadaan, Nashik (Chief Guest); Fr Jesu Robinson, Rector and Director of BSVS; Fr Monty Rodrigues, Principal of Don Bosco Technical Institute; Br Savio D’Mello, Administrator of BSVS; Mr Valerian Rozario, Accountant; Mr Vijay Murtadak, Sub-Inspector of Jawhar Police Station, along with Mr Patekar; Mr Ramesh Dandekar, Former Sarpanch of Walvanda Gram Panchayat; and Mr Bachchu Fadwale, Former Deputy Sarpanch.
The event commenced with the garlanding of the portrait of Don Bosco and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The dignitaries were welcomed with saplings and shawls, followed by a melodious welcome song. The welcome address and introduction of the guests set a positive tone for the day.
In his address, Fr Robinson welcomed the gathering, highlighted the mission and activities of the institution, and encouraged students to strive for excellence in their education. Fr Jayaseelan, the Chief Guest, narrated an inspiring story of a stepping stone and a statue. He emphasized that when we patiently accept discipline, correction, and difficulties, they shape us like a sculptor’s chisel into successful and beautiful human beings. He stressed that perseverance and self-development are essential for growth. Br Savio extended his heartfelt wishes to the children, while the Sub-Inspector of Jawhar Police Station appreciated the commendable work carried out by BSVS and assured his support for its future initiatives.
The cultural programme was a major attraction of the day, featuring 43 vibrant performances, including dances, patriotic songs, folk dances, and group presentations. The performances reflected the rich talents of the students and were met with loud applause from the audience.
A well-organized lunch was arranged for all participants. Nutritious and hygienic meals were served, and the students maintained commendable discipline throughout. Seating arrangements were made in three halls, and parents expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and hospitality.
In the afternoon, 26 outdoor fete games were conducted by Fr Monty with the help of 24 Brothers from Divyadaan, Nashik, including fun and skill-based activities such as placing a bindi on the forehead, throwing a ball into a bucket, and coin-in-a-bowl games. The Fete games fostered sportsmanship, and discipline among the children. Winners received coupon prizes, which they later redeemed for gifts at the prize stalls.
The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which all participating students were honoured by the esteemed guests. The valedictory function included expressions of gratitude to all staff members and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event, with special appreciation for the support and guidance of the entire BSVS staff and management.
The Bal Melava 2026 proved to be a grand success, offering students a memorable platform for learning, creativity, and confidence-building. The collaborative efforts of the organizers, staff, parents, and well-wishers made the event truly meaningful and unforgettable.
