Nerul, Navi Mumbai, November 14th, 2025: Dominic Savio Kindergarten and Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, jointly conducted the Annual Sports Day for Foundational Stage I (Nursery, Junior KG, and Senior KG) and Foundational Stage II (Classes 1 and 2). The event was held in honour of Children’s Day and aimed at promoting physical development, participation, and sportsmanship among early learners.
The programme was attended by the Rector, Fr Dr Barnabe D’Souza, and the Administrator and Vice Principal, Fr Shekar Mariadas, along with the Principal, Mrs Kalyani Chaudhuri, the Headmistress, Mrs Jyotsna D’Souza, Supervisor and Mrs Mahek Khan. They encouraged the students throughout the event and supervised the proceedings.
Foundational Stage I Events (Nursery, Junior KG, Senior KG)
For Foundational Stage I, two races were conducted for each section: the Fruity Fun Race and Tiny Nehru’s Race. These events were designed to support motor development and build confidence among young children. Students participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating steady effort and excitement.
Medals were awarded to winners of each section. Fr Shekar presented medals and certificates to the Nursery section winners, while all other sections received their medals subsequently.
Every participant received a certificate recognising their involvement and effort. Refreshments were distributed after the races, contributing to a cheerful and lively atmosphere.
Foundational Stage II Events (Classes 1 and 2)
Students from Classes 1 and 2 took part in age-appropriate athletics. The main track events included the 50-metre hurdles race and the 80-metre race, conducted separately for boys and girls. Participants demonstrated coordination and determination throughout the races.
In addition to student events, the school organised two fun races for PTA members and teachers, fostering community engagement and adding an interactive element to the programme.
Following the races, the Prize Distribution ceremony was held for both stages. Students were recognised for their performance with medals and certificates. A short Zumba session provided a recreational break and encouraged free movement and physical fitness.
The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the contribution of the school management, teachers, support staff, and parent volunteers. The School Anthem marked the end of the programme.
The Annual Sports Day highlighted the school’s commitment to holistic development by encouraging teamwork, physical activity, and confident participation across all levels of the foundational stage.
