St Dominic Savio High School in Andheri, celebrated its Annual Thanksgiving Day over two days, January 23 and 24, 2026, inspired by the theme “Anchored in Hope: Pilgrims with Young People on the Path of Peace.” The celebration reflected the Salesian spirit of gratitude, service and commitment to the holistic formation of the young.
The programme on January 23 began with a warm welcome to the Management led by Rector and Manager Fr Francisco Pereira, and Principal Ms Valerie Mascarenhas. A serene prayer dance by the Pre-Primary students set a reflective tone for the evening. The Primary students followed with a vibrant welcome song and dance, filling the atmosphere with joy and enthusiasm. The School Captain addressed the Management, expressing gratitude for their constant guidance and support in nurturing academic excellence and values-based education. Scholarships were awarded to deserving students in recognition of their academic achievements and perseverance, highlighting the institution’s commitment to encouraging merit and supporting young learners. The School Report presented a comprehensive overview of the institution’s academic progress, co-curricular accomplishments and outreach initiatives during the year.
The celebrations continued on January 24 with a special focus on appreciation and service. Fr Flovi D’Souza, Principal of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, and Provincial Councillor of the Mumbai Province, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he commended the school for its steadfast commitment to forming young people as responsible and peace-loving citizens, and urged students to remain hopeful and faithful. A significant moment of the day was the felicitation of Ms Manisha Agarwal on completing 25 years of dedicated service as a Secondary Section teacher. The founding members of the Evening Study Classes were also honoured for their selfless contribution towards the education of underprivileged students.
The highlight of the celebration was the musical play “A Voyage of Hope,” a meaningful presentation on peace, forgiveness and resilience. The script was written and the production directed by the members of the staff, reflecting their creativity and dedication. Through the guiding voice of the Lighthouse Keeper and the Captain, the play conveyed that faith and unity illuminate the way even in the darkest storms.
The Principal thanked the students, staff and collaborators for making the celebration a memorable success. The celebration reflected a community anchored in hope and peace.
