Don Bosco Avsar, Matunga, Mumbai, organised two career-oriented seminars on February 8, 2026 at St. Joseph’s School Hall, Wadala (W), as part of its ongoing “Classroom to Careers” February series aimed at preparing young people for the world of work. The sessions drew a large participation of undergraduate college students, along with a few working youth and parish members.
The first seminar, on Cyber Security Awareness & Career Opportunities, was conducted by Mr Amrish Vora, industry expert and CEO of Clear Intentions IT Solutions. He highlighted how rapid digitalisation has significantly increased cyber threats, creating a strong demand for skilled cyber security professionals. Students were introduced to diverse career pathways such as Ethical Hacker, Cyber Security Analyst, Cloud Security Specialist, Digital Forensics Expert, Security Architect, and Compliance and Risk Manager.
Mr Vora also spoke about job market trends, noting that India witnessed a substantial rise in cyber security job postings in 2025. He outlined educational pathways in Computer Science and IT, relevant certifications such as CEH, CISSP and CompTIA Security+, and the importance of technical skills including networking, cryptography, cloud computing and programming, along with soft skills like analytical thinking and communication. Emphasising that cyber security is not merely a career option but a necessity skill in today’s digital era, he encouraged students to pursue certifications, hands-on training and continuous learning.
The afternoon session focused on Financial Literacy for Youth and was conducted by Mrs Loretta Silveria, Proprietor of Trinity Wealth Creators. The interactive seminar invited young participants to share their financial dreams and aspirations, after which she provided a practical blueprint for turning those goals into reality.
“The secret of robust financial health is to inculcate financial discipline early in life… right from the first salary,” she said. Mrs Silveria stressed the importance of saving and investing a sizeable portion of income from the very beginning of one’s career, and of distinguishing between needs and wants. Using real-life examples, she explained the power of compounding and demonstrated how small, regular investments can grow into significant amounts over time. She also introduced participants to basic financial instruments such as life insurance and mutual funds, and the importance of planning for life events and contingencies.
The sessions concluded with quizzes and prizes, adding to the enthusiasm of the participants. The day proved to be an enriching experience, equipping young people with valuable insights into two crucial aspects of their future—cyber security and financial well-being—while motivating them to take informed steps towards sustainable careers and responsible financial living.
