On March 19, 2026, Don Bosco Narukot rolled out the red carpet for a grand and heartwarming celebration of International Women's Day. The theme, "Travelers of Hope" (Ashaana Yatriyo), hit the nail on the head, inspiring about 270 women from villages across Jambughoda taluka to come together like bees to honey. These ladies, full of vim and vigor, turned the event into a powerhouse of positivity and sisterhood. The program kicked off with a bang as the chief guest and village sisters lit a lamp, symbolizing hope breaking through the clouds. They welcomed P.I. S.B. Butia Saheb, the bigwig from Jambughoda taluka, with a bouquet of flowers and a shawl - a gesture as warm as a mother's hug. Father Elson, the Rector at Don Bosco, Narukot introduced her. The stage was set for an eye opening address P.I.S.B. Butia Saheb didn't beat around the bush. She drove home the point that women are the backbone of society and family, saying, "Women are an integral part of society, and their empowerment is essential for societal development." Diving deeper, she unpacked the true meaning of womanhood, pulling pearls of wisdom from myths and culture. She quoted a timeless proverb: "Even if a father on horseback dies, he will not die, but a mother who makes bread will make a woman." It was a wake up call, urging the women to tap into their inner strength, stand tall like oaks in a storm, and speak out against violence. No more walking on eggshell these women were ready to break the chains. The chief guest stepped into the spotlight to honour about 10 women. Certificates in hand, their success stories were like shooting stars, lighting up the room and motivating everyone. One honoree shared how she turned her small farm into a thriving venture, proving that where there's a will, there's a way. The crowd erupted in cheers, feeling empowered to chase their own dreams. Father Elson wrapped up the speeches by noting, "This program aimed to encourage and empower women to realize their potential and pursue their dreams." He thanked one and all for making it a roaring success.
The fun didn't stop there. Post program, group games and fete stalls sprang to life, animated by the energetic Don Bosco boarders. Laughter echoed as women played letting their hair down after a morning of inspiration. Winners walked away with prizes.
The event wrapped up at 2:30 p.m., but the spark lingered. This gathering was more than an event; it was a shot in the arm, a platform for women to connect, swap stories, and soak up new insights. "Travelers of Hope" reminds us to face life's curveballs with grit and optimism, turning challenges into stepping stones.
