St Dominic Savio High School, Andheri, commenced the Academic Year 2026–2027 with a solemn Prayer Service and Holy Eucharist on June 19, 2026. The celebration united the school community in faith, gratitude and hope, offering an opportunity to seek God’s blessings, reflect on their purpose and begin the year with renewed commitment, enthusiasm and a spirit of service.
The Holy Eucharist for Catholic students was celebrated by Fr Franco Pereira, Rector and Manager, who encouraged the school community to entrust the new academic year to God’s loving care. In his homily, he reflected on the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding individuals towards lives of purpose and responsibility. Drawing attention to P.R.I.D.E. (Personal Responsibility in Daily Effort), he urged students to recognise and nurture their God-given gifts through dedication, perseverance and service to others. He also highlighted the significance of the Sign of the Cross as a source of strength and a reminder of God’s presence, guidance and protection in daily life.
Simultaneously, students of other faiths participated in an inaugural prayer service, themed “Do Whatever He Tells You – Faith in Action: Making a Difference,” which began with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing God’s presence, wisdom and guidance. Meaningful prayers and intercessions sought blessings for the entire school community and the wider world. Through a thought-provoking skit, students reflected on love, hope, peace, perseverance and kindness, inspiring all to make a positive difference in everyday life.
Br Allan Netto, the School Administrator, reflected on the central values of the school’s theme, inspiring students to put their faith into action. Encouraging students to embrace kindness, gratitude and mutual support, he urged them to begin the academic year with a positive outlook and a commitment to making a difference. His address emphasized the importance of fostering a caring and inclusive school community where every individual is respected, valued and encouraged to grow.
The celebration reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education by fostering students’ spiritual, moral and personal growth alongside academic excellence. Inspiring them to deepen their faith, embrace responsibility and serve others, it set a strong foundation for a purposeful year of learning, service and achievement under God’s guidance.
