Salesian Cooperators Resurrection Church Virar Unit with our Delegate Fr. Thomas D'costa and Coordinator Mr. Dian D’Souza along with Team recently organized a free blood donation camp, complemented by free eye checkups, blood testing, and general medical checkups. This initiative not only aimed to address the pressing need for blood donations but also provided essential health services to the local community, showcasing the power of collective action and the importance of giving back.
The event, held on March 29, 2026, a sunny Sunday morning from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m., attracted a diverse crowd of participants, including enthusiastic youth and respected seniors from the parish community. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of purpose and camaraderie as volunteers and attendees came together for a common cause. The Salesian Cooperators, known for their commitment to social service and community welfare, played a pivotal role in organizing this event, ensuring that everything ran smoothly.
As attendees arrived, they were greeted by friendly volunteers who guided them through the registration process. The camp featured well-equipped medical stations staffed by qualified healthcare professionals who were ready to provide eye checkups, blood tests, and general health assessments. The presence of experienced doctors and nurses instilled confidence in the participants, encouraging many to take advantage of the free services offered.
The blood donation drive was the highlight of the event, with many individuals stepping forward to donate blood. The need for blood is a constant concern in healthcare, and this camp aimed to replenish local blood banks while raising awareness about the importance of regular donations. Each donor was treated with care and respect, receiving refreshments and a heartfelt thank you for their contribution. The sight of young and old alike coming together to donate blood was a powerful reminder of the strength of community bonds.
In addition to the blood donation, the free eye checkups provided an opportunity for many to assess their vision and receive guidance on eye care. Seniors, in particular, appreciated this service, as many had not had their eyes checked in years. The medical checkups offered a comprehensive health assessment, allowing participants to gain insights into their overall well-being and address any health concerns.
The event also served as a platform for education, with health professionals sharing valuable information on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the importance of regular checkups, and the significance of blood donation. This knowledge empowered attendees to take charge of their health and encouraged them to spread the word about the importance of community health initiatives.
As the day came to a close, participants left with a sense of fulfillment, knowing they had contributed to a noble cause while also taking steps to improve their health. The Salesian Cooperators' initiative exemplified the spirit of service and compassion, reminding everyone that small acts of kindness can lead to significant change.
