The Provincial Rectors' Meeting on June 23, 2026 at the Don Bosco Provincial House in Matunga, Mumbai brought together provincial leadership, rectors, council members, and confreres from across the province. The gathering was marked by a spirit of gratitude, planning, and commitment to the Salesian mission.
One of the strongest messages from the meeting was the Provincial, Fr Ashley Miranda's affirmation of the province's vibrant missionary spirit. Following visits to nearly twenty communities, leaders noted the enthusiasm, hard work, dedication, and strong family atmosphere evident throughout the province.
The meeting welcomed several new leaders into key positions, including new council members, rectors, and formation leaders. Special appreciation was expressed for outgoing leaders who had served the province with dedication. Significant updates were shared regarding several major projects across the province.
A dedicated finance session by the Provincial Economer, Fr Anton D’Souza, emphasized transparency, accountability, and compliance in financial administration. New procedures for reporting, audits, trust management, and project approvals were outlined to strengthen governance and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
The gathering also included an interactive workshop on psychosexual integration in formation. Through reflection, group discussions, and case studies, participants explored ways to create healthier, safer, and more supportive environments for young people in formation. The workshop highlighted the importance of accompaniment, open communication, and holistic human development.
An important highlight of the day was the inauguration of the BOSCOM office at the hands of Fr Fidel Orendain, General Councillor for Social Communication, who, in his message to the confreres present spoke about the importance of communication for the purpose of communion. Fr Bastin Nellissery, Delegate of BOSCOM South Asia, thanked Fr Orendain and Fr Miranda for their presence and support in establishing the office.
The final session for the day presented integration as the process of bringing sexuality, emotions, relationships, self-image, spirituality, and life purpose into harmony by identifying and resolving inner conflicts. The discussion also addressed contemporary challenges such as AI, encouraging critical discernment, ethical awareness, and verification of information while affirming that authentic human judgment and spiritual wisdom remain essential.
The meeting concluded with optimism and a commitment to strengthening community life, advancing mission initiatives, supporting ongoing formation, and preparing for the upcoming Provincial Chapter. Participants left with a renewed sense of responsibility and confidence in the province's future, grounded in prayer, fraternity, and service to the young and the poor.
