The Closing Day for the Academic Year 2025–26 at the Oratory, St John Bosco Parish, Borivali, was celebrated on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with great enthusiasm and joy, bringing together children, teachers, and the dedicated Don Bosco Co-operators who had generously assisted throughout the year’s activities. With 13 children participating, the occasion served as a meaningful conclusion to a year filled with learning, friendship, faith, and growth. Due to a staggered exam schedule across the different schools a bunch of children had already left for their respective native places and unwillingly missed the event.
The day was planned as a celebration of fun and fellowship, allowing the children to unwind and enjoy themselves through a variety of exciting games and activities. The atmosphere was lively as participants dressed in their party best, eagerly took part in games such as Ring Toss, Bowling, and Stone-Paper-Scissors. Spot prizes added to the excitement, keeping the children engaged and delighted throughout the event. The cheerful spirit of the day reflected the strong bonds and camaraderie nurtured among the children during the academic year.
A significant highlight of the programme was the Second Term Prize Distribution, conducted by the Director, Fr Mario Vaz. Awards were presented to children for their efforts and achievements, especially in the Christmas Artefacts Making Competition and Khel Utsav, the Oratory’s Sports Day. Khel Utsav featured a combination of physical races and mind games, encouraging participants to develop both physical agility and mental sharpness. The prize distribution was met with applause and pride, as children were recognised for their creativity, participation, and enthusiasm.
Another meaningful feature of the evening was a book exhibition showcasing a variety of books and workbooks in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Mathematics. The exhibition encouraged children to explore learning resources in an enjoyable and interactive manner. Each child was given the opportunity to select two or more books or workbooks to take home and work on during the vacation period. This thoughtful initiative aimed to nurture reading habits, reinforce academic learning, and keep the children meaningfully engaged during their holidays.
Fr Vaz addressed the gathering, congratulating the children on their achievements and encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. He exhorted them to aim higher in their studies, character, and personal growth, reminding them that every effort contributes to building a brighter future. His words inspired both children and adults, reinforcing the values of perseverance and self-improvement.
An engaging feedback session allowed the children to share their experiences of the Oratory programme. They expressed appreciation for the personal attention they received, particularly in subjects they found challenging. Many highlighted the value of English-speaking practice, the opportunity to make new friends, and the wide variety of activities that kept learning enjoyable. The children also expressed a desire for more opportunities and time dedicated to games and recreation.
The celebration concluded with a prayer led by the children, thanking God for a fruitful year and seeking blessings for the future. The children then enjoyed sumptuous snacks, ending the day with smiles, laughter, and cherished memories of a meaningful academic year.
