At St. Dominic Savio High School, Andheri, fostering a strong partnership between parents and teachers remains central to every child's educational journey. With this vision, the Primary and Pre-Primary Sections organized Literacy Workshops for parents on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to equip them with practical strategies to support their children's language development at home while reinforcing the school's interactive teaching methodologies.

The Primary Section conducted a Literacy Workshop for parents of students from Std. I to IV, highlighting that literacy extends beyond reading and writing to include vocabulary, communication, comprehension, creativity, and critical thinking. Parents of Std. I and II participated in activities such as Alphabetical Order, Picture Talk, Catch the Rhyming Ball, Mystery Box, Action Game, and Build a Story, which focused on phonics, vocabulary enhancement, sequencing, oral expression, and imaginative thinking through play-based learning. Parents of Std. III and IV engaged in the Sentence Builder Challenge, Grammar Scavenger Hunt, Preposition Selfie Challenge, Describe Without Naming, and Tense Race, gaining practical insights into strengthening grammar, sentence construction, vocabulary, and communication skills while learning techniques to reinforce classroom learning at home. The workshop also familiarized parents with the school's interactive teaching-learning practices.

The Pre-Primary Section conducted a Literacy Workshop titled "Developing Language Skills in Children," along with a session on Pre-writing Skills for parents of Jr. KG students. Through energizers, alphabet riddles, memory games, Alphabet Bingo, Alphabet Dumb Charades, Building an Alphabet Story, and the Letter-Object Race, parents experienced the "Play While We Learn" methodology. The workshop also emphasized shared reading, age-appropriate books, perceptual development, and gross and fine motor skills, while offering practical strategies to address common writing challenges. The concluding session on Pre-writing Skills, conducted by the school counsellor, emphasized the importance of perceptual development, gross and fine motor skills, and practical strategies for addressing common writing challenges.

The workshops successfully strengthened the partnership between home and school, empowering parents to become active participants in their children's literacy journey and laying a strong foundation for confident communication, academic success, and lifelong learning.
