Kawant, Gujarat – In a significant step towards empowering marginalized tribal communities, DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant organized a special two-day Government Scheme Facilitation Camp on June 12 and 13, 2026 at Vagudan and Nanavanta villages of Kawant block. The initiative was undertaken with the objective of reaching out to uneducated, illiterate, and underprivileged tribal families living in remote interior villages and helping them access various government welfare schemes and services.
Many tribal families often face difficulties in availing government benefits due to lack of awareness, limited education, and challenges in completing official procedures. Understanding these barriers, DISHA Don Bosco brought the necessary support directly to the villages, enabling people to receive guidance and assistance at their doorstep. The camp served as a bridge between government schemes and the rural tribal population, ensuring greater inclusion and participation in welfare programmes.
During the two-day camp, a total of 263 people from eight villages benefited from the services provided by the DISHA Don Bosco team. From Vagudan village, 43 men and 17 women participated, making a total of 60 beneficiaries. From Jamli village, 10 men and 12 women benefited from the camp. Nanavanta village recorded the highest participation, with 77 men and 31 women receiving assistance. In addition, 3 men from Navalja, 45 men from Rendha, 2 men from Dhaniwadi, 2 men from Nanakoshta, and 21 men from Bheretha also availed the services.
The DISHA Don Bosco staff provided free support for various government schemes and documentation processes. The major services facilitated during the camp included Ration Card applications and corrections, Widow Pension Scheme, Old Age Pension Scheme, KYC updates, I-Khedut Portal registration and services, and Aadhaar card linking. The team guided beneficiaries through the required procedures and helped them complete forms accurately, reducing the difficulties faced by people who are unfamiliar with government systems.
The camp was organized in the presence and guidance of Fr Dr Mayank Parmar, SDB, Director of DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant, along with Mr Hasmukh Christian, Programme Officer, Mr Arvind Rathwa, and Mr Naresh Rathwa. Mr Ajay Rathwa was the key person in handling the camp. The initiative was also strengthened through the valuable cooperation and support of local leaders, including Kawant Taluka Panchayat Member Mr Viranbhai and Nanavanta Panchayat Member Mr Fatesingh Rathwa.
The successful completion of this two-day camp reflects DISHA Don Bosco’s continued commitment to social transformation, community empowerment, and the integral development of tribal communities. By bringing essential government services closer to the people, DISHA Don Bosco continues its mission of promoting dignity, awareness, and equal opportunities for the most vulnerable sections of society.
