The Salesian Family came together in a spirit of joy and gratitude on April 19, 2026, to Celebrate the Feast of Mama Margaret — beloved mother of St. John Bosco and patroness of all Salesian Parents.
The Annual gathering brought together 25 members of the Salesian Family of Parents — Parents of Salesian Priests and Brothers — for a day of prayer, fellowship, and celebration at Our Lady of Dolours, Wadala West.
The event began with a warm welcome from the Provincial, Fr Ashley Miranda, Vice Provincial Fr Robert Pen and the Provincial Delegate Fr James Nigrel who expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices and support of the families that have gifted their sons to the Salesian Mission.
A sumptuous breakfast at 11 a.m. set the tone for the day, giving families time to reconnect and share stories. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist at 11:30 a.m. celebrated by Fr Ashley Miranda, Fr Robert Pen, Fr Diego Nunes, Fr James Nigrel, and Fr Roy Noronha. In his welcome, Fr Nigrel acknowledged the presence of each family. Fr Miranda, our Provincial, thanked the parents for being the “first formation house” of every Salesian vocation. He gave his own example of his mother who was the first to sow the seeds of Salesian vocation in him.
After Holy Mass, Fr Nigrel welcomed the gathering. The Vice Provincial, Fr Robert Pen, enumerated the role his own mother played in his formation to his Priesthood and her constant support till date. The families introduced themselves, creating a beautiful tapestry of names, hometowns, and memories that bind the Salesian family across generations. Four Parish Pastoral Council members of Wadala Parish then lifted the mood further with lively brainstorming games and activities. Laughter filled the hall as parents and families participated wholeheartedly, with prizes distributed to the enthusiastic winners.
The celebration continued with a vibrant jam session that had everyone clapping and singing, followed by a delicious lunch shared in a true family spirit.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs Linda, who expressed the gratitude of all parents to the Salesian Province of Mumbai for cherishing this bond. A special thanksgiving prayer was also offered for Fr James Nigrel for his constant support and presence to the families.
Mama Margaret Day is more than an event — it is a reminder that behind every Salesian priest and brother stands a family that said “yes” to God. As the families departed, they carried with them not just memories of a beautiful day, but the renewed assurance that they remain an integral part of the Salesian Mission.
