Don Bosco High School and Junior College, Lonavla, marked the beginning of the 2026–27 academic year with two significant events aimed at nurturing faith, leadership and service among students.
The new academic year commenced on June 17, with an inaugural prayer service held at the school campus. Organised under the guidance of teachers Asha Varma and Priya Shinde, the gathering brought together students, teachers, the school choir and the liturgy team in a collective prayer for God’s blessings, guidance and protection throughout the year.
The service featured scripture readings, prayers, hymns and moments of reflection centered on faith, gratitude, perseverance and service. Students were encouraged to identify personal areas for growth and set goals for the year ahead, while embracing values such as discipline, honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility and hard work.
Continuing the spirit of a purposeful beginning, the institution held its Investiture Ceremony on June 19, themed “Empowered to Serve,” and formally inducted the newly elected School and College Council for the academic year 2026–27.
The event was attended by Police Sub-Inspector Sambhaji Devare, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sitaram Mane and Police Constable Ankush Patil of Lonavla City Police Station, along with members of the management, staff and students. The guests were welcomed by Rector, Fr Blany Pinto.
During the ceremony, the newly elected student leaders took an oath to uphold the institution’s motto, “Virtue Kindles Strength,” and to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, commitment and excellence. They were invested with badges, sashes, scarves and ties, symbolizing the trust placed in them, while the ceremonial transfer of flags marked the continuation of the institution’s leadership tradition.
Addressing the gathering, PSI Devare congratulated the student leaders and urged them to lead with discipline, accountability, teamwork and selfless service. Fr Blany Pinto also officially declared the House Points System for the academic year open, encouraging healthy competition and active participation among students.
School and College Captain Johann Khude expressed gratitude on behalf of the newly elected council to the management, staff and students for their support and confidence.
Together, the prayer service and investiture ceremony set the tone for the academic year, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to faith formation, character building and responsible leadership in the spirit of Don Bosco.
